The Bats get better.
"From the Reds:
RHP Micah Owings, who on 8/16 was designated for assignment when the Reds signed No. 1 draft pick C Yasmani Grandal, cleared waivers and has accepted an outright assignment to Class AAA Louisville…Owings began the season with the Reds and went 3-2, 5.40 in 22 relief apps before he was optioned to Louisville on 7/21."

Any word on Micah going the Rick Ankiel route...taking up hitting?
If a guy hits .300 every year, what does he have to look forward to? I always tried to stay around .190, with three or four RBI. And I tried to get them all in September. That way I always had something to talk about during the winter.

I think Babe Ruth did it first.
I assumed he would be used to fill in the starting rotation void left by Wood and LeCure. They also need a guy that can give them 7+ innings with Chapman coming to the Reds any day now.
I know his pitching hasn’t been lights out, But I would consider his bat is a bonus to his pitching abilites. Bronson can run the bases pretty well, But we all know there was only one two career pinch runners. If they were to convert him to a position player, I would imagine he would have no value to this club in the next year at least. Besides – We all know that pitchers are not REAL athletes, Jeremy.
How about Mike Leake. Stealing Micah’s job title, his roster spot chew and his bag of big leauge. I even saw him in a picture with Micah’s girl on Facebook. Dusty has recently used Leake as a pinch hitter on at least 4 occasions, Old habits die hard. It could be the DFA, But something tells me this club has zero plans for Micah Owings.
