On this day in 1954 the Reds beat the Pirates 3-2.
On first look this game doesn't look special. But when Ted Kluszewski hit a walk-off homerun, leading off the bottom of the ninth, this game became pretty rare. In the top of the sixth Joe Nuxhall hit leadoff hitter Frank Thomas. The next batter, Sid Gordon, reached on an infield single. Jack Shepard (not that Jack Shepard) then grounded to third baseman Bobby Adams who threw to Johnny Temple who turned the triple play to Big Klu. It would be 55 years before another player would be involved in a triple play and hit a walk-off homer in the same game.
