This Day in Reds History - August 21
On this date in 2006 Cincinnati beat Houston 4-3.
Rich Aurilia went 4-for-4 and the Reds scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth to beat Houston. The Bad Man hit a three run dinger off Chad Qualls to give the victory to Ryan Franklin. Royce Clayton went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Lou Piniella gives his team a pep talk by acting out the Toroise and the Hare story before the Reds game against the Cubs in 1990. Then in the 6th inning, Barry Larkin hits into an inning ending double play where replays indicate that Larkin was safe at first. Piniella charges out to argue with umpire Dutch Rennert and gets tossed, but Lou doesn’t let it end there, picking up first base and toss it toward right field. Not satisfied with the distance of the first throw, Lou picks it up and throws it again.
The Reds were up 4-1 at that point and went on to win 8-1 behind a record-tying 4 doubles by lead-off hitter Billy Hatcher.
