On this date in 1999 the Reds beat the Pirates 1-0.
Pete Harnisch and Scott Williamson combined on an one-hit shutout. The lone Pirates hit came leading off the seventh inning when Shortstop Mike Benjamin singled. The Reds pitchers combined for 13 strike outs. The Reds scored in the bottom of the eighth inning when Sean Casey homered to Right Center.
