Farmers Only: Presenting your first place Louisville Bats

  • Louisville continues to roll on, as they beat Toledo 10-4.  That's 8 in a row, and 19 of the last 20.  Wladimir Balentien and Chris Valaika were both 4-for-5, and Eric Eymann hit his first homer of the year, a 3-run bomb.  Chad Reineke gave up 3 runs in 5 innings in his start, and Jeremy Horst shined in his AAA debut with 2 shutout innings.  The best part of this game is that Columbus lost, so the Bats are now in first place in their division.  Up next: Sam LeCure takes on the Clippers in Columbus at 7:05, so you Central Ohio RRs had better get out there and support them.  Let's hope that this series between 1st and 2nd place division rivals goes better for our boys than a certain other one did.
  • Carolina lost to Jacksonville 8-5Travis Webb got knocked around a bit in his start, and the recently promoted Nick Christiani gave up a run in his first inning of work there.  Kris Negron and Denis Phipps both homered for the Mudcats.  Up next: James Avery takes on Jacksonville at 7:05.
  • Lynchburg was rained out.  They'll resume tonight at 7:05 against Kinston.
  • Dayton continued their freefall with a 10-3 loss against Lansing.  Frank Pfister was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI.  Clayton Shunick was disappointing in his start, but getting the win in the game was Lansing's Egan Smith.  Yep, that's Jordan's brother.  Neato.  Up next: Tim Crabbe takes the hill against Lansing at 7.
  • Billings beat Great Falls 14-2 behind a stellar pitching performance by Jesus Adames.  Adames went 5 innings of shutout ball, and Pat Doyle relieved him with 2 hitless innings.  Devin Lohman and Donald Lutz both homered, and Lohman drove in 5 runs.  Up next: Tanner Robles will try to bounce back tonight against Great Falls at 9:05.
  • The AZL Reds got beat by the AZL Dodgers 8-4.  Thomas Muller and Stephen Diaz had 3 hits each.  Up next: They'll take on the AZL Royals at 10 tonight.
