Game 82, Thread 2: Stranded Cubs are the best Cubs
Randy Wells is somehow stymieing the Reds offense, but Johnny Cueto is a cruel opponent as well. The Cubs have been getting on base like crazy, but just can't push a run across. Game tied at naught.

but we dont need hits to beat the Cubs.

did he try to go first to third on the hit

That wasn’t that wild.
by wishfuldrifter on Jul 3, 2010 3:19 PM EDT up reply actions
uh, boy
Someone shoulda been telling him whether to go or not.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Catcher blocked one in the dirt that rolled down the first base line
Haisey hesitated after taking an initial jump and was caught in “no-mans land”
Started to go on a ball in the dirt, hesitated, and got stuck in between 2nd and 3rd
not as bad as Thom made it out to be.
The action itself wasn't the worst thing ever but the timing really, really sucked.
by KSE on Jul 3, 2010 3:20 PM EDT up reply actions
Thom made it out to be the reason for the Reds' struggles today
when it was really just another link in the chain
So, we can probably expect not to see Heisey starting for awhile now? I mean, that was probably the case prior to this game anyways.
Off topic, but if Janish isn't going to start very often
why doesn’t Dusty put him in for OCab late in close games?
Because no one seems to notice that Cabrera is not a good defensive player anymore.
by the finest muffins on Jul 3, 2010 3:22 PM EDT up reply actions
Even so, doesn't he realize that Janish is still a defensive upgrade?
If they don’t think he is a defensive specialist why do they even have him on the big league roster?
I think Dusty thinks that would be an insult to a GG SS
He will put Janish in in a blowout, but not as a LIDR.
Though Dusty doesn’t seem like LIDRs much anyway. Maybe because he doesn’t trust his pen to hold a lead.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
If the Cubs don't get any men on this base
it’s going to be hard for them to set a new LOB record. Right now they stand at 15. The ML record is 20, and the NL record is 18.
Let me write out a formal proof for you.
A new thread got us some hits...
maybe we need one for runs?
Go, Reds!
They’re my favorite team.
