Game 103, Thread 2: Are there any other cities that only have a baseball team and a basketball team as their pro sports?
Still a scoreless game as we go to the bottom of the third.

…cuz he’s got so much heart, you know. Cuz he’s short. Then the transportation-responsible drunkard Lefty Smurf gets hosed when the never-racist Indiana fuzz check his BAL. But if he’s in a frickin’ taxi, is he really out IN PUBLIC? That ain’t public intox in my opinion. Drunky Smurf could have wanted the taxi to drop him off on private property, perhaps even out of view from the street, in which case he was not publicly drunk.

.228 is pretty damn drunk
My guess is that he passed out in the taxi and wouldn’t or couldn’t get out, with that BAC. Loss of consciousness, severe motor impairment, and inability to understand what’s going on are expected when you’re that drunk. He wouldn’t know if the driver was ripping him off or not.

it's unusual
But people have died of alcohol poisoning below .30.
More common is choking to death on your own vomit, or death by accident.
There’s a group of people who suspect a serial killer is preying on young college guys. Because a whole bunch of them have gone missing in the midwest, only to be found later, in nearby rivers.
I don’t think it’s a serial killer. I think it’s drunk guys falling into the water and drowning.

True story
The Brewers’ colors were to be red & black to mimic the Braves’, but the sale was approved so late in spring training in 1970 that they had to use the Pilots’ jerseys.
It was a great selection of awesome.
The Pilots and the Brewers are the same franchise
Plus, the Pilots played in Seattle. It’s gotta be 2 unless the Cubs or White Sox played an emergency home game there for some reason.
I didn't hear the question
But the White Sox played in Milwaukee a couple times and were the unofficial “Milwaukee’s team” between the Braves and Brewers.
It was a great selection of awesome.
The Astros did but in Miller Park
The Sox thing sounds familiar but I can’t remember when or the circumstances.
After the Braves left for Atlanta
local businessman Bud Selig contracted with the Sox to play 9 games in Milwaukee.
"Red Reporter - An elitist clique full of like-minded douchebags." - BK
Of course, the Astros played a "home" game there a couple years ago
Against the Cubs, when Zambrano no-hit them. The Indians also had a series moved there maybe three years ago. So that’s five.
It was a great selection of awesome.
Oh wait, we're talking County Stadium, not Milwaukee in general.
It was a great selection of awesome.

I mean, seeing him swing three times and miss in a game is rare
if he strikes out swinging, that would be like 7 times this game
Cabrera walked?!?!?!
Seriously. My master plan is working. I would say time for a double steal. I mean we only have the early favorite for MVP up….let’s take the bat out of his hands.

I'm back. I was reading the Great RR Site-Tone debate in the last thread, and 2 things:
1) You kinda have to choose between the site growing and staying exactly how you want it. You can’t have it both ways. Although I realize a lot of the long time guys would be fine with the site not growing.
2) Joey Votto is friggin good. He whiffed at 2 straight curve balls, then 2 pitches later he adjusts and slaps it into RF. What a hitter.
3) GOOOOOOOMEs!!!!!
see what I did there with uzr? it’s like a LOL cats saber-pun combo.--Verka Serduchka
on a related note, this is going to go down as the year of the no-hitter in the MLB and the year of big philosophical debates on RR

I think nearly everyone was wrong about him
but hey guys, does this mean we owe Dusty [gulp] some credit?
Well, I wouldn't go that far....
His team’s in first, always seems to play hard, and seem to be having fun doing it. Dusty couldn’t have anything to do with that, he’s a terrible manager.
by RedsMasochist on Jul 28, 2010 4:09 PM EDT up reply actions
You bet he does
He also deserves an extension.
"Red Reporter - An elitist clique full of like-minded douchebags." - BK
well, yeah
But I really am impressed with what Dusty’s done. Has he made some mistakes? of course, but overall I’d say he’s done quite well this year.

Also, how about that Miguel Cairo? It seems that we’re well into the territory where if we lose, it ain’t Cairo’s fault. Hell, we’re close to if we win, it’s because of him.
