CINCINNATI Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips spent Thursday morning in Family Court battling one of his baby mamas, a local woman with whom he has a 4-year-old daughter. He has another child with a woman in Buffalo. Phillips, who was selected as a reserve in tomorrow's MLB All-Star Game, and Danielle Daluisio had a casual relationship in 2006 that resulted in a daughter, Micole Malia Phillips. Phillips has seen the child a total of five days in four years according to Daluisio's lawyer, Lynne Gold-Bikin, chairwoman of Weber Gallagher's family-law division. Thursday's hearing set dates in August for a child-support hearing and November for a custody hearing.
Daluisio, who receives $5,000 per month from Phillips for the child, is seeking a significant increase in child support from the baller, who signed a 4-year, $27 million contract with the Reds in 2008. Daluisio, 27, who works in school administration and has an internship with the NCAA, has primary custody of the child and seeks to establish more strict visitation conditions for Phillips, 29, such as preventing him from exposing the child to other women, according to Gold-Bikin. An attorney for Phillips declined to comment on the situation, and a Reds spokesman did not get back to us.

The child support system in this country is a travesty and a sham

i see the other side of the lack of child support on a daily basis. CS has holes in its swing, to be sure….but it beats having nothing in place for baby mamas.

"Seeks to establish more strict visitation"
he’s seen the kid four times in five years, how much more strict can it get?

OMG! Drama!
My sister’s friend’s other friend’s sister is the baby mama in Buffalo. For serious.

"casual relationship"
lost in all this one night stand stuff is the woman’s consent. why should men continue to be punished with the messed up system? $5000 isn’t enough for one kid? my single mother raised 3 college graduates on less than half of that a month.
it’s not like the two of them were married. you have a casual relationship, you deal with the consequences.
/hates golddiggers
terrbile take
doesn’t matter how serious the relationship is, a kid was the end result.
the male and the female should both be expected to take care of the kid.

What about parents staying together and not divorcing? That’s ok for kids, right? Right?

"so there was a reason firefox said i spelled that wrong" -- justin007000
absurd
Tiger Woods just ponied up $750 mil in a divorce settlement. And that was fair, too.
"the only place they lost was the scoreboard"
I bet he got married in a community property state!
This team wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for all the losing.
he got divorced in the court of public opinion
the 750 mil was a bargain if only for the clause where she can’t write a tell all…
"the only place they lost was the scoreboard"
I thought she only got $100 mil
“only.”

Now you're talking divorce settlements, not child care.
Two completely different things. Elin doesn’t deserve that much money. Elin didn’t win at Pebble Beach. Elin didn’t destroy Augusta (something he did WAY beforehe met her and the reason he has a huge Nike deal). Prenup folks, prenup.
Now, is Tiger a shithead? Totally. Did Elin do anything to deserve that money — fuck no. Now, if most of this is hush money we’re talking something different.

Have you considered that most states don't have a duty to pay for a child's college education?
By the time the kid’s ready for Harvard, it’s going to cost 120,000 a year!
This team wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for all the losing.
Paying child support (and in the case of a professional athlete, a lot of money)
is also a foreseeable consequence of having a casual relationship
This team wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for all the losing.
casual relationships can have an off the charts xFLIP
just gotta be casual with the right folk.

couldn't disagree more with this sentiment
parents provide for their children. bottom line. no ifs, ands or buts. if you father a child you provide for them in a manner that is consistent with your means. and Brandon earns more than 99.99% of the population. the current child support settlement was declared when he earned much less than $7mil a year. the payments SHOULD absolutely go up.
"Yahan Sentona's strikeouts are way down this year" Jake Liscow
pretty sure i have a pretty good working knowledge of parenthood
and i’d say the mother has puh-lenty of responsibility if bp has only seen the child 4 times since birth…
"the only place they lost was the scoreboard"
you make a strong point
it doesn’t seem fair that some of Brandon’s kids might get more money and better lives than other of his children
Brandon can afford it
plus I mean he doesn’t even see the kid. He could have taken protection. I can afford condoms as a student, and all my previous girlfriends could afford birth control as students.
If you have sex without a condom, you should realize that you will have to pay child support, plus how much is $5,000 a month for Brandon?
I really wish I never saw this, it makes me now think less of Phillips. If you have a kid, even from a one night stand, you should be there for it in some way.

He's there for the kid financially
And I wouldn’t bet on it being totally his decision that he hasn’t seen the child very much.
"so there was a reason firefox said i spelled that wrong" -- justin007000
We know almost nothing about the situation.
I don’t think it’s right to make judgments about Phillips or the mother based on the information we have.
This team wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for all the losing.
Maybe it is because Eve was an evil Whore who disobeyed God and brought original Whoreness down on the human race?

And remember to use 2 methods of birth control:
Method 1: The condom THAT YOU BRING WITH YOU.
Method 2: The birth control she’s lying about using.

You know what's the most amazing thing about this thread to me?
You can all be so judgmental about someone’s sexual exploits, but when your consumer behavior actually contributes to deaths of human beings, you laugh about it.
also, one other thing
money does not replace a parent. maybe BP is a piece of shit for a father, but more money isn’t going to make the kid not feel the absence of a father.
on another note, divorce is one of the harshest things on a kid.
so basically what has happened is that everyone disagreed with you
so you’ve tried to divert the conversation to at least 3 completely unrelated topics.
