Game 69, Thread 2: Huh huh, "Game 69"
The Reds are all knotted up with the Mariners, 1-1. Sam LeCure is hanging right with Felix Hernandez. Let's go Reds! Score some runs!

after going 120 last time. He’s running out of gas.

I dunno
it’s looking like bad in the AL is not that bad in the NL.

Maybe yes, maybe no
I don’t really buy that.
by Brendanukkah on Jun 20, 2010 12:05 AM EDT up reply actions
The AL at least seems to have a much wider spread
There’s teams with a .600 winning percentage like the Yanks and Rays, and a team below .300 (the Orioles). The NL has no teams above .500 or below .300.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
arrrghhh
This place needs an edit button. I mean above .600, of course.

Where have you gone, Johnny Vander Meer?
I blame our pen
LeCure was clearly tiring, but Dusty’s afraid to go to the pen.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Ah
LeCure’s pitch count was in the 90’s, and he was doing pretty well prior to the 6th. I can’t blame Dusty for sticking with LeCure.

His pitch count wasn't too high
but he seemed to be laboring out there.
Let me write out a formal proof for you.
I don't blame Dusty
I’d be afraid to go to the pen, too.
But LeCure was cleared running out of gas. Given that one run might be the game, someone else should have come in once he got into trouble. If we had someone who could be trusted in that situation.
The Reds have said they’re going to do something about the pen, but so far, they haven’t done anything except call up Jordan Smith.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
I don't necessarily blame Dusty
but it seemed to me that Dusty just wanted Lecure to get through the fifth just to be able to qualify for the win.

Since Dusty and Walt won't adjust things logicaly
my suggestion is to wear only 1970’s unis. polyester , llama pubes, or cotton what ever.
What Chris welsh fails to understand
is the opposing team’s strategy vs. Lee and Hernandez. Swing at everything (especially the first pitch) and you will have pitchers going deep into ballgames against you.

the Cards people
think that they will run away with it soon. It would be sad if they do, but I don’t know what to think of this team anymore. We’re disappointing the Brew Crew people who expected us to take the division away from the Cards
The Cards are far from perfect
they are an injury away from being in a lot of trouble, if something happens to Pujols, Wainwright, Carpenter, or Garcia they are in trouble. They don’t seem to have much starting pitching depth, and Garcia is in his first full season after TJ, and Carpenter has had TJ and serious shoulder surgery. I think since 2004, Carpenter has only made it through 3 complete seasons. While the Cardinals 1-3 is better than ours, Cincinnati’s 4-5 are much better than St. Louis’s. Plus if we have another injury, Wood and Maloney are waiting in the wings, they have P.J. Walter….
I’m not making post season plans, but I’m not writing anything off yet either.
