Bailey will not Start on Sunday
Homer Bailey has suffered a setback, and is still sore from his rehab start on Tuesday. This is a bit of a concern as shoulders are difficult things. Hopefully this is just a small setback and he will pitch before the end of the month. He skipped his bullpen session today due to soreness, and he is not scheduled for another start.
He will be reexamined by Dr. Pokem.
Sam LeCure will continue to take Bailey's turn in the rotation.

here's the story from the Fayplacement
For Bailey, it’s operation shutdown
Despite the title, surgery isn’t explicitly mentioned. Though there is this:
Bailey saw Reds medical director Dr. Tim Kremchek on Friday night. Therapy is the recommendation for now. All the options were also presented to Bailey – "the kitchen sink," as Lessard put it.
"We’re trying to decrease his pain, increase his range of motion," Lessad said.
“All the options” kind of implies surgery is a possibility. Or least something more drastic than physical therapy.
Homer sounds a bit freaked out.
“The last couple of days there’s been some soreness in some places (in the shoulder) where I usually don’t get soreness,” Bailey said. “What we’re going to do is evaluate it and go from there.”
…Bailey said it’s not clear why the shoulder reacted the way it did.
“It’s just a little bit of soreness in places where I don’t get sore, so it was a little bit alarming for me,” he said.
This from the guy who didn’t want to go on the DL.

The Reds are looking pretty smart
for DLing him, and being cautious about activating him.
I guess this is why Homer was spotted in the Reds dugout. We assumed that meant he had rejoined the team and was starting today. He was probably in Cincinnati to get poked with a stick.

"the kitchen sink" should definitely NOT be used
to describe really detailed, precious, shoulder surgery.
Fuck, this scares the hell out of me. I’ve been rooting for Bailey HARD for a while, I’d hate for this to turn into something long-term.
But also….Carpenter 2.0 much?

I don't like the odds of a post shoulder surgery Bailey being Carpenter 2.0
Howington 2.0 seems more likely.
Not that I’m saying surgery is in Bailey’s future.

From Hal
When asked if the dreaded word, "surgery," has been mentioned and he said, "No, no, no. No, no, no."
I guess that is a good thing.
