Civil Rights Game 5/15
Early returns are in and it seems that several of your longtime RR'ers are going to the Civil Rights Game on Saturday May 15th. A major bonus is the Chuck Harmon jersey giveaway, free to the first 20000 fans. Most here probably know Chuck was the first African-American ballplayer for the Cincinnati Reds. He is a tremendously nice guy to boot. I'll have the kids in tow so i'll be bypassing the traditional Bar Louie pre and postgame drinkfest but I just might take the Hooters shuttle this year. The kiddos should love the ride across the river.
If any RR'ers are interested in attending the game here is the official two week notice. i've heard from tHan and BK and ash, so far. anyone else interested?

Isn't it ironic
that teams from two of America’s most racist cities are meeting to play a Civil Rights Game?
I hate Dusty Baker so goddamn much.

Civil Rights Game
Some thought it was ironic that the game started in Memphis, where MLK was assassinated. Actually, a Cardinals-Reds matchup would draw well in Memphis as an exhibition game. It’s just that the White Sox-Mets Civil Rights Game in 2008 didn’t draw well at AutoZone Park. It became pretty obvious that Memphis wasn’t going to support the game unless the Cardinals were involved. The Cardinals played in the first Civil Rights Game in Memphis in 2007 against the Indians.

completely unreleted but this is probably one of the most sickening things i've seen
I went to the site of MLK’s assassination in February, and it had a giant Bank of America logo on it.
It made me want to vomit.

The Civil Rights Game
This game smells of greedy PC folks just wanting to make a buck off appearing to care about the poor and down trodden…blah blah blah
Potential doesn't win games.

I think I'm going to this game.
I’ll have my two pre-school aged sons with me so while I’ll get to see a few innings of the Civil Rights Game, a lot of my time will be spent on the Civil Rights Playground and making several trips to the Civil Rights Restrooms.

My mom told me that when she was a girl, she wanted to go see the colorful bathrooms
Because she was sick of always going in the white ones.
When I was little I used to regularly watch 'Gilligan's Island' in the afternoons.
The first season hadn’t been filmed in color (and when I watched them in the 70’s they had yet been ‘colorized’) so in syndication every third episode was in black and white. I was smart enough to (on my own) decipher a certain chronology at work (B&W first; color later) but not smart enough to avoid asking the obvious question, “Mom, when did they invent color?”
