The day after final cuts and fans are still reeling. I've moved on. Disappointed in dumping Wladimir Balentien, but there really aren't any egregious mistakes. I don't see any spots on the roster where the obviously superior (and ready for the majors) player lost out. I'm a little anxious on Mike Leake, but I can chalk that up as much to the unknown as anything. Honestly, we'd be going through that with Travis Wood or Aroldis Chapman too.
Today is the last game of spring training for the Reds and Indians. The Reds fly home tonight(?) to prepare for Monday's season opener against the Cardinals. The Indians head to Chicago to open the season against the White Sox. Homer Bailey takes the mound for his final outing before his first regular season start next Friday. His three other veteran rotation-mates have been brutal this week, pitching a combined 12.2 innings, surrendering 26 hits and 20 runs (14 ER). Then again, Leake went 6 innings and gave up just 4 hits and 2 runs. I think there is something to be said for having something to pitch for.
The Indians are throwing out a minor league lineup for the most part today, with several of the players not on the 40-man roster. Don't be surprised if half of the Reds lineup is out of the game before the 6:07 ET tip-off of the Butler-Michigan St. game.
Lineups are after the jump. Audio is available from 700WLW and all corresponding outlets. Or you can follow along without sound on Gameday.
