Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

You know, I wish I could say they are a bunch of d-bags who are full of themselves. But they have every right to feel great about Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. We as Reds fans have no reason not to believe we will be 6 or 7 games out of first place by Friday. It seems like it is getting dark early folks.

I went to the remake

walked out half way through. Turned out to be a good decision for me, that was an interesting night.

OUCH!

That Matt Kemp/Jay Bruce comparison hurts. But not as much as this:

They are probably relying too much on an older left side of the infield, and a decaying Ramon Hernandez.

The truth really does hurt.

the way they talk about Kemp

makes it sound like he will get an HR every at bat. It makes me feel disgruntled that they think it will be so easy to beat us. The worst part is it probably will. I’m going to go into this series with unrealistic faith in the team, though, because I don’t like the Dodgers much (except for their unifroms)

i am fairly certain the Reds will be swept

Honestly, off the top of my head this is the last game I can remember the Reds beating the Dodgers.

What club do you hit from 50 yards out? A putter?

I have no idea where the ball is going when I swing a LW.

Depends what's between me and my target

Usually my 60 degree or my 53 degree, but never my PW

Depends if I wanna hit it high and stop it, or if I wanna hit a chip and check.

Regardless, never my PW

well they gotta point

he has walked 12 batters in 13.2 innings. Either that or his ERA is gonna change.

by justin007000 on Apr 20, 2010 2:22 AM EDT up reply actions

That seemed somewhat reasonable

until they got to Leake and then my defensive mode kicked in. Leake will not be destoryed by them—he is the best we have right now! And he is the best hitter on the team!

Seirously, though, I know they see easy wins coming up, but they are punks. I don’t have high hopes for this series, but I won’t accept a Dodger sweep yet. They got beaten by the Pirats a few times too

by Red_Poodle on Apr 20, 2010 1:15 AM EDT reply actions

They're most likely going by the numbers alone with regards to Leake.

12 walks to 8 strikeouts in 13.2 innings pitched looks really ugly when you see it on a stat page. Let’s hope he is over his jitters and has his A game going when he faces them.

I will go on record right now

Something about transcontinental flights does hurt the Reds

I think they fly on the cheap, so Delta doesn’t give them fresh oxygen.

The Reds always find ways to break my heart out on the West Coast

Wasn’t it their horrible trip to SD and SF in 2006 that sealed their fate?

I fucking hate the Dodgers

…especially when they are right.

This was actually a pretty even-keeled and fair review of the team, with two exceptions

They talk like Bruce is already a bust, and compare him to Kemp. Well, let’s see, Kemp is 2 years older, and when he was 22 he was worth 1.8 WAR, similar to Bruce last year…Of course, that year Kemp’s BABIP was .411.

The won’t kill Mike Leake. First, they won’t hit any homers off of him, and second, he’s going to get the walks under control. He may get hit around a little bit, but he’ll do fine.

Surprise 2 of 3, here we come

i hope you are right about the walks.

Rookie pitchers always seem to initially allow more walks then they had in the minors

Leake didn’t even get the minors, so it stands to reason he’d be walking too many. Plus, many of his walks have been to the 8 hitter, so there’s a chance 3-4 of them have been ‘unintentional intentional’ walks.

There’s no way a guy with his control and comman keeps walking 7 or 8 per nine innings.

I was hopeful

but I had no idea they were going to hit like that. I know we could lose the next two, but we can’t be swept!

The Dodgers are stupid.

They never should have let go of Brees and Tomlinson…

:) That no homerun call off of Leake was quite good. I kid I kid. That Votto sure can rake, I’d sure love to have him at 1B for the Dodgers.
