Farmers Only: Oh, Henry!
- Louisville lost to Columbus 5-3. Justin Lehr got the start and pitched 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Not too much offense from the Bats in this one. 3 hits to be exact, all coming from the bat of Daniel Dorn. Those three hits were 2 doubles and a homer, though. Dorn is hitting .368 on the year with 2 homers in 19 ABs. Up next: Louisville takes on the Clippers at 6:35. Sam Lecure faces Carlos Carrasco.
- Carolina lost to Birmingham 7-3. Alexander Smit pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing 2 runs while striking out 5. Joe Krebs got the loss when he gave up 3 runs in the 7th, and Denis Phipps drove in 2 of the 3 runs with a double. Up next: The Mudcats are off tomorrow.
- Lynchburg was off. Up next: The Hillcats take on Salem at 6:05, with Lance Janke making the start.
- Dayton won again with a 6-run 7th inning to a 7-4 comeback win against Bowling Green. Henry Rodriguez hit 2 home runs and drove in 5 runs with a solo shot in the 6 and a grand slam in the 7th. Jacob Johnson gave up 4 runs in 4 innings and Chase Ware pitched 3 shutout innings in relief to earn the win. They're still undefeated. Up next: The Dragons take on Bowling Green at 12:05 p.m. (!) Josh Ravin will face Alexander Colome.

I was at the Dragons game last night.
Johnson was all over the place. BBs and WPs every inning. Rodriguez’s grand slam was the highlight of the night. Bowling Green brought in a new pitcher to face Gregorius, and walked him on four straight pitches to bring in a run and keep the bases loaded. Rodriguez is up next and swings at the first pitch. Some fan lets Henry know about the four straight balls and criticizes the swing. The next pitch was a laser to the left-center Hot Rods’ bullpen. At which time, Donnie Joseph looks over at the fan and says, “That’s why he’s swinging baby!”

I went to the Bats-Clippers game
And there was not a whole lot to get excited about. Lehr was lucky that he lasted as long as he did as he got into several jams and had some strong defensive support to back him out. His luck ran out in the 6th where he failed to record an out leaving runners on 2nd and 3rd after one runner had already crossed the plate. Juan Francisco had an ugly, ugly game. He dropped a routine fly in left field which I believe scored a runner and looked worse at the plate. He struck out twice and looked like he was getting more and more frustrated as his swings got uglier.
There were some great defensive plays turned in by Cozart and Sutton including one where the ball bounced off of Dorn’s glove at first base, but Sutton was backing him up, caught the ball and threw out the runner.
The Bats did manage to make it exciting in the top of the 9th when they were down 5-1. Mike Gosling was closing out the game for the Clippers (didn’t he pitch for the Reds?) and hit Frazier with 1 out and nobody on base. Dorn came up and hit the scoreboard in Center-Right to make the game interesting. Gosling then walked Sutton bringing the tying run to the plate, but to no avail as Luis Terrero (our DH who looks like he’s 40 and has the wierdest stance and swing I’ve seen recently) hit a hard line ball, which the Clippers SS made a strong defensive play to catch. Had he failed to jump up and bring down the ball, it probably would have been a double bringing across our 4th run.
Gosling is a Clipper now?
Yes, he used to pitch for the Reds.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Both of those eyewitness reports are great
Keep it up, fellas.

Clearly, maturity is the issue here.
If I was 22 and been told I was going to be great for the last 10 years, i would have serious issues being professional as well. I hope the reds put away the macho bullshit and get him some counseling/mentoring.
