Has Dave Cameron finally lost it?
"In this afternoon’s impromptu chat session, I was asked which team I thought had the best rotation in the National League Central. This question was clearly inspired by the Brewers recent acquisitions of Zack Greinke and Shaun Marcum, giving them three formidable starters to match up with the group down in St. Louis. However, I didn’t choose either of those rotations as my pick for the best in that division. Instead, I went with the Reds, with the caveat that Aroldis Chapman ends up starting for them. Am I nuts?"

hmmm
Looks like he’s basing it on depth. If three pitchers from each team end up on the DL, the Reds win!
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
It would have to be the Cardinals, no?
Garcia will probably regress some (He outpitched his xFIP last year by a run) but he should still be solid, and Carpenter and Wainwright should be their normal selves.

Carpenter has had multiple arm surgeries
i don’t really think you can ever pencil him in for 200 innings of work.

Yeah
Plus their defense is going to be a lot worse this year. Maybe that doesn’t affect their FIP, but it does mean the SPs will pitch fewer innings and give up more runs than they otherwise would. Especially Westbrook, Lohse and Garcia.
Still
I’d give the edge to them or the Brewers this year. I don’t think Chapman will figure it out right away (if he’s in the rotoation and not the bullpen) and while the rest of the staff will be decent at the worst, nobody will be on Wainwright’s or Grienke’s level. Although, I will say that our 4-5 should be a hell of a lot better than whoever they throw out there.
I just woke up, so sorry if this is incoherent in any way

He looked kind of creaky toward the end of the season
Wainwright pitched a whole lot of innings. Garcia also pitched quite a few for a young guy coming off of TJ. Of course every highlight and lots of photos of Marcum I see look like he’s demonstrating how to use the inverted W pitching technique and he’s just off TJ.
So if I assume Chapman makes our rotation for 2011, who are the other 3 Beatles to stack up against The Phillies?
Chapman
Cueto
Volquez

To rephrase the question:
What NL Central team will end 2011 with the lowest ERA from their collective starters?
The Reds have a decent shot at that, because of the depth.
OTOH, if the question is: Which rotation would you like to take to the postseason? Well, then, that’s a whole ’nother thing.
