Your Own Personal DeJesus traded to A's
There'd been a good deal of speculating that the Reds might try and trade for the Royals' David DeJesus to play in left field. Nahgunnahappen now.

That is all the Royals got for him?
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, is just a freight train coming your way...

Are you gonna make us actually click the link?

Seriously. I didn't want DeJesus, but the A's gave up the equivalent of Matt Maloney and Matt Klinker for him.

A's fans make him out to be pretty good
Fan over valuation of their own prospects is probably a big part of that, but it is one year of DeJesus and 4 or 5 of a guy to put in the rotation.
seriously.
Even if his ops drops back to his career levels, this wouldve been an easy, easy trade to make. Hopefully this means Walt has his eyes on a bigger prize.

seems like the Reds and A's have a good trading relationship
We could still trade for DeJesus!
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Agreed.
Walt has a long history with folks in Oakland. If not DeJesus, then Coco Crisp would do fine. Either way, I wouldn’t want to give up too much.

Ryan Langerhans has a great house with a Bay View he'd love to sell you

Good trade for Oakland.
KC can draft, but the Royals’ trades often leave much to be desired.

Well, the Royals get Mazzaro and Marks cheap for a few more years, while DeJesus is already making $6M for i believe just one more year.
You have to figure the Royals aren’t done using the money saved. So outside the vacuum of this deal, I don’t think it was terrible.

oh noess!
oh well, I heard Crawford will be willing to come here for a couple of bats and a low salary. He loves the reds.

What Would Joey Votto Do?
Greinke
According to Jon Heyman:
greinke would take "a haul,‘’ in words of 1 kc person. maybe 2 good starting pitchers and a hitter. ny is not a fit for himI’d guess that would mean something like Cueto, Maloney, Frazier or Francisco (I doubt they want Alonso given what they have at 1B already)? Would they want more than that? Would they prefer a more cost-controlled player like Leake or Wood than Cueto?

Leake, Maloney, and your choice of Frazier, Francisco, or Alonso
I’d do that.

I have a feeling that if it's Leake, then Maloney won't be enough as the second pitcher
but yeah, I’d do that.

Opinions on Bailey seem to be all over the map.
What do you think about Homer being the “pitcher with an upside of Greinke?” I think he can be a huge trading piece if matched up with the right GM.
On another note, I’d give KC Volquez and Francisco for Greinke if they’d take it. There’s your upside. Good luck with that.

Bailey is going to have a breakout year in 2011
Hopefully it will be for the Reds.

With the prospects they have in the upper minors, I think they would be looking for guys who are much, much closer to the bigs
I think Cueto, Maloney, and Francisco or Frazier would probably do it.
That’s not a super great haul, but the thing the Reds have that most other organizations don’t is a surplus of guys who could step in and be in the rotation/starting lineup right away, yet will still be cheap for a while.

Cueto is the pitcher I'm most reluctant to deal
I think I’d try every other combination I could before including him.
I’d still probably do it, though.

i think sending Cueto over would be self defeating for the Reds

Agreed.
I’d send Volquez, Bailey, or Leake. No way on Cueto or Wood, though.
