This Day in Reds History - October 6
On this date in 1973 the Reds beat the Mets 2-1.
Johnny Bench hit a walk-off home run with one out in the bottom of the ninth off Tom Seaver in Game One of the NLCS. In a game that featured great starting pitching and good defense the Reds were held scoreless until the bottom of the eighth when Pete Rose homered off of Seaver. Jack Billingham started and went eight innings and Pedro Borbon pitched the ninth and picked up the win.
