SIS - Miscellaneous baseball and movie chatter

Who do you think has signed the most autographs in the history of man?   I'm going to say Pete Rose.  He certainly has signed more autographs than anyone in baseball history, right?  I recently got into a conversation re: which baseball player signed the most autographs NOT named Peter Edward.  Thoughts?

Also, what film in history is most in need of a sequel?

And, we need topics/themes for Slyde's 2nd book. Suggestions?

Mike Zimmer has to be the head coach of the Bengals next season, no?

Projections for Yorman Rodriquez next season??? he went .339/.361/.456 at Billings in his age 17 season this year.  OUTstanding.

Anyone seen the Pete Rose movie yet?   Methinks I'm gonna hop over to the Esquire sometime after Tuesday.  Sue me, i still remember the Hit King as a helluva competitor who never gave less than 100% on the field.  That matters to me.

SLyde's 2nd Book

How about the first Reds team to go to back-to-back World Series? Or maybe the worst team in Reds history?

Mike Zimmer, Maybe

Movie Sequel – Harvey. I mean what ever happened to Elwood P. Dowd?

Mike Zimmer? Really?

Defensive coordinator of an uncreative defense with no pass rush? No, thank you. Zimmer can’t control the personnel, but he has hardly worked wonders with what he has been given.

Of course, it will probably be Bratkowski, seeing how he has pictures of Mike Brown and a chimpanzee in flagrante delicto.

Movie Most in need of a sequel: The Incredibles. Either that, or “Dirty Mary Crazy Larry”

Slyde’s second book: “Arbitrary End Points: Why baseball pundits are all fucking morons.”

Yorman is going to develop some power next year, but no patience. .295/.315/.455, and we all start worrying if he is ever going to learn to take a pitch.

The Social Network was great, and Secretariat was terrible. Just amazingly bad.

Bengals

until they get some leaders on that team it doesn’t matter who the coach is. I’d dump a receiver (maybe two of them) and draft a QB #1 this year

I'm still pro Carson

gone sour on Chad a couple years ago. Lapham has stated that others in the know have called Chad one of the worst route-runners in the league. Carson can’t know where Chad will be if he has to do it in 4 seconds or less.

Here we go

Most autographs ever? I’m going to say Bill Clinton, or some other politician?

Second most in baseball to PER? I’ll say Ernie Banks just because he’s been doing shows for so long.

Spaceballs needs a sequel, dangit.

While I like Mike Zimmer, I want to see Bill Cowher as the next Bengals coach.

I refuse to pay attention to any prospect until at least AA.

lemme see here

Second most baseball autographs of all time has got to be Nolan Ryan (Texas is a big ass state), Junior, or Cal Ripken. Cal played forever and signed a ton.

Movie in need of a sequel…hmm. I’ve always wanted to see just how badass Kaizer Soze is, so Usual Suspects 2 fascinates me.

And the king of the non-baseball autograph world is undoubtedly Bob Hope.

Set the gearshift to the high gear of your soul.

The Answers you've been waiting for

Sequel? The Big Lebowski

Slyde’s next book? Bun to Bun: Cincinnati’s Epic Burger Battle (or How I Learned to Realize Terry’s Turf Club is Really Overrated)

The Bengals do not need to replace Marvin, they need to get better players. If our 2010 Reds won in spite of The Dusty, then the Bengals can win in spite of Marvin Lewis. Or seriously, Jon Gruden.

Talk to me about Yorman when he’s cashin’ checks in Louisville.

by Highlifeman21 on Oct 27, 2010 7:38 PM EDT reply actions

Time for me to get blasted

I’ve never seen The Big Lebowski front to back, only snippets here and there. There are a lot of “great” movies that I’ve not seen.

TTC is not overrated, don’t let ’tHan fool you.

The Bengals will not be consistently good until new ownership/management takes over.

Agreed on Yorman. Brandon Larson and Jason Larue were great minor league hitters.

ttc is overrated

They served a burger in three pieces to than. Inexcusable….

Larue and larson didn’t have those stats as a 17 yr old prof minor leaguer… apples to oranges.

Hell, id wager jch, pops and I didn’t have those batting stats in jv hs ball.

Larson and Larue both hit well at higher levels than where Yorman is and couldn't hit for shit in the ML

Of course, it might just be that their names start with the letter L.

and he’s hitting like this against guys who have finished college. that’s something.

Guys that have finished college and are in Low A ball aren't very good

I agree that Yorman is talented. Brien Taylor was talented too. My original post was agreeing with HLM21 that until Yorman is killing AAA pitching, I’m not going to worry about him.

We've gone over this before

I believe the CWS to be somewhere between AA and AAA, and Leake dominated the #1 team in the country. I also happened to be watching that game and fell in love with his poise and “nut up” pitch selection.
