This Day in Reds History - October 17
On this date in 1990 the Reds beat the A's 5-4.
Joe Oliver singled off of Dennis Eckersley driving in Billy Bates with one out in the bottom of the tenth to give the Reds their second straight win in the Series. Rob Dibble pitched two innings in picking up the victory. Billy Hatcher was four-for-four with a walk and Chris Sabo and Barry Larkin each chipped in with three hits.

I remember this game.
It felt so good to be up 1-0 in the series but you just knew that the A’s were gonna hit some home runs (and win some games and probably the series). The Reds had an early lead but Danny Jackson was bad and then Scott Scudder was too.
Scudder walked two in his inning of relief and Dave Henderson crushed a ball that seemed like it was going out. Dammit!. Another A’s home run….. Eric Davis ran it down.
