Game 92, Thread 3: Tired of the Old Ish, Let the New Ish Begin
After pouncing on Jason Schmidt for three runs in the first inning, the Reds have now given up six unanswered runs. Joy is fleeting, familiarity is crushing.

Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.
I was thinking more of the fact that he was formed from teh earth by evil powers
or something like that. Doe sit help that I think Ryan Hanigan looks a little lke Kevin Bacon?
and don't forget
Sneaking off to go pee in a cup inside the Green Monster. While he supposed to be in left field.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Woulda been funnier if he snuck into the Monstah
while he was supposed to be in right field.

it's not the kind of thing you make up
The pitcher was about throw a pitch, when he looked back and saw there was no left fielder behind him. Where’s Manny? Turns out he had to go, and so snuck into the Green Monster (it’s hollow, with a door so the scoreboard changers can get inside) to pee in a cup.
With Manny, I suppose we’re lucky he didn’t just whip it out and water the grass in left field…
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
that is so foul
I guess somebody tested what was in the cup in LA lol

Re: Nix
He’d be OK as a 7 hitter if other guys in the lineup had really good OBPs but this lineup can’t afford him. We need a lot fewer outs and a lot more pitches taken
Isn't there a slanket somewhere you should be filling with your farts?
Hate to say it..
but you’re so right about the rest of teh lineup that I’m not sure it matters what Nix does or who he’s replaced by.

Macha and the Pirates’ pitching coach were actually pretty salty with one another – pushing with an ump in the middle
5 pitches to Hanigan, and all were out of the K zone
yet he struck out! Sucks with guys in scoring position.

I blame the ump
The first called strike was pretty outside according to GD, and so Hanigan had to swing at the last strike, which was in the same place just a little lower.

Marty
Marty’s right that Owings ain’t getting it done, but not because of his W-L record. I think he’s our 8th best starter right now. He’s really skated through some starts, with hard hit balls abounding. I just don’t see the potential for him to come out of it. He’s not really fooling anybody.

I think Owings should swap with Bailey
when Volquez comes back. If Volquez doesn’t come back soon, Owings needs an ERA DL trip and put Maloney in place. We can’t win with starts like that
when his control is bad
he flat out sucks
