Votto Getting Tossed

I should let this go (as Votto apparently should have) but I wnated to preserve this little video for a bit of time.  The pitch was so obviously a ball.  Bubba, MLB.tv has courteously provided a clip, so you do not have to keep that travesty in your DVR anymore (unless you want to of course).  Thanks alot for offering.  Here is their clip:

http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=5557407&c_id=cin

It looks like Votto is saying something about "you've been calling that one all game" or something like that.  I can't make it out other than the few curse words.  I just wonder what Wellke said to draw Votto back.

Votto made some comments about it after the game which were perfectly polite (I would have drug the ump's name through the mud, but I guess I'm just more Pinella lol):

That does answer the question, though, about the number of ejections he's been issued.  Votto says he would be ejected once a year while in the Minors.  I guess this is par for the course then.

In any case, I hope he doesn't do it again and I hope Dusty actually gets out there in a reaosnable amount of time if something like it does happen again.  I'd loe to see Rosales get all fired up though.

Once again, though, when I hear those Mets fans booing him, it just...I need to get tossed I think lol.

That was terrible

How in the world does Dusty let Votto get tossed? It seemed like the ump gave Votto all the time in the world; was Dusty taking a crap or something?

Often wrong, never uncertain.

Yeah

It was like Dusty was playing his PSP or something and just looked up too late. Really not good.

agreed

The umpire gave Votto a long rope. Even if Dusty was on the can or something, why didn’t someone else come out? A coach, a teammate? When Andyfan got into it with an umpire in Scranton, it took about two seconds for a teammate and the first base coach to jump between them and send him back to his position.

What makes it worse is EE almost got the hook the day before, and it was the same thing…coaches really slow to get their butts out of the dugout to save their player.

Right and you think they would be on guard after that

Also, at the end of he Phillies series, Jerry Hairston went ballistic, I’d say worse than the display Votto put on here, though not as long. The coaches and manager knew the players were on edge and should have been ready to go out there

I agree

Dusty was too busy trying to figure out how he would pay tribute to Michael Jackson.

I was actually openly rooting for Votto to get tossed by the end of the argument

even though its a sad way to end a hitting streak. I didn’t think the Reds were going to end up having a chance, so I just wanted some entertainment. Votto calling the ump a hoser counts.

Votto must be getting frustrated, the way this team has been playing, and now that Bruce is gone and Hanigan might as well be. The I don’t want to see these guys end up as frustrated as the last batch of farmhands-turned-stars for the Reds, though.

Did he say "hoser"?

That sure would be funny, eh?

would the reds have scored 7 if joey would have stayed in ...

as i mentioned in the game thread yesterday, i think votto was taking one to wake up the team because dusty passed on his four chances during the road trip to get tossed. team leader waking up the team.

it really seems to have energized them

And Rosales id hit a double. I don’t know. I wold have preferred to have Votto out there in the 8th I think it was when Rosey grounded into the force out. That’s an interesting question

by Red_Poodle on Jul 13, 2009 1:19 PM EDT up reply actions

I was happy to see votto get pissed and show some emotion

Leaders know when the time right to make a statement of emotion and anger and I think at that point Joey figured what the hell we’re getting blown out and it is time to get pissy…I believe it was a fairly planned event. I don’t think dusty had a clue that Joey would push it that far.. I don’t blame him for not seeing the ejection coming until it was too late.

Good Job Joey!

I hope to construct a music video montage of classy St. Louis Cardinal moments, perhaps setting it to Mariah Carey's "Hero."

Please take a moment to find the classiest incidents in recent Cardinal history, and link to an article covering the event, or video or pictures if you can find them. And if you just have a ridiculous photo of a recent Cardinal, please post a link here to the highest resolution image you can find.

I think we can all learn from such a classy organization. Let's give it a try.
