Sister showing Mayor Mallory how to throw out the first pitch.

The above photo is from September 5, 2007 when Sister threw out the first pitch before the Reds/Mets game at GABP. (The Reds won by the way.)

Sister, who stands at 4-foot-9 and somewhere around 85 pounds, recently completed her 42nd year as a librarian at McAuley High School (66th total in education) and to celebrate that achievement (along with her 90th birthday) Sister attended Friday evening's game against the Cubs. She was greeted with a hug from Gapper and a signed jersey (kid's size) from Bronson Arroyo.

She's always quick to defend any struggling Red but is also realistic enough to say 'Ugh' and throwout her hands when the team is playing poorly.

Sister is a big fan of BLTs and when visiting family in Ireland (she's a first generation American if my memory serves me correctly) she likes to knock back a pint of Guinness here and there.

Sister Mike was born and raised in Cincy and is a rabid McAuley, Reds, Bengals and UC/XU fan. A dyed-in-the-wool Reds backer, who could probably strike your ass out, Sister rarley misse games -- kicking it in the convent while watching the Redlegs tangle on a big screen. (She also thinks Joey Votto and Sean Casey are quite attractive.)

I bring this up because Sister Michaeleen is a very important person in my life as well as thousands of others connected to the all-girls Mercy school in North College Hill. (Both the library and gym are named after her.) Her years of service have touched the lives of countless people. And for that I say: Great job sister.

Also, she could probably teach both Mads and Jim O'Toole a thing or two about pitching.

Happy Birthday Sister. Enjoy it. Go Reds.
