Pirates make two trades today
Not sure it's a done deal yet, but it looks like Lastings Milledge and Joel Hanrahan for Nyjer Morgan and Sean Burnett.
This morning they traded Eric Hinske to Yankees for Eric Freyer and Casey Erickson. Who knows if they're getting better, but the Pirates certainly are active this year.

It's a pretty good deal for the Nats... sort of
Milledge has speed and power, but had fallen quickly out of favor. He was the Opening Day CF, but played so poorly that he was in the minors within a month. The Nats still have a logjam of outfielders, but none of them is really a CF. Elijah Dukes has been playing that role. Morgan is a much more natural centerfielder, but I can’t see what he brings to the table as being more enticing than Dukes’s bat. Dukes could slide over to right and displace Austin Kearns, but then Josh Willingham is still treading water. Morgan’s most likely spot, then, is as a bench player and late inning defensive replacement.
Hanrahan was the presumed closer for the Nats at the beginning of the year, but has seriously underwhelmed. Nats reliever shows some signs of competence, pitches in the World Baseball Classic, comes back poorly, then is traded to an NL Central team. We’ve heard that tune before.

Morgan won't be missed
They just signed his Taiwaneses equivalent. Dude’s a long shot to make it but at least Pittsburgh is trying to tap into an overlooked market.
