Tom Glavine
Would sure look nice in Red!!! Just released by the Braves after a successful rehab start in A ball. If I'm running the team I'm already on the phone seeing if we can make a run at him. We haven't gotten much out of the 5th spot in the rotation and with Volquez on the DL this makes a lot of sense if a deal can done. I mean worst case he flames out but I bet he has innings and wins left in him. Not to mention the pitching knowledge he can share with the youngsters. Go get him, now! I have spoken.

A brief distraction from the injury bug?
"Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!"
If Volquez's injury ends up being big, I wouldn't hate having Glavine around
Assuming the guy can still pitch, it’d be nice to have a lefty in the rotation.

But not for 4 million dollars.

yeah
i figure he will probably go to a bigger market, for more money, like maybe join Smoltz in Boston.

Boston
Glavine expressed this winter his jealousy of Smoltz to have the opportunity to play for the Sox. Glavine grew up around Boston.
That said, I’d be surprised to see him go that route. Boston’s already well stocked to run through the playoffs even if they run into substantial injuries. If Glavine demands money, he won’t find buyers in Beantown.
If he picks a team for personal reasons,
I would bet on seeing him in the NL East to stick it to the Braves. Of course, the Braves might welcome the opportunity to tee off against Glavine a couple of times this year.

Glavine has always seemed like a classy guy
i don’t think he would stay in the NL east just to “Stick it” to Atlanta. I’m guessing that while he may be hurt and upset, there is probably a rational side of him that understands why this happened.

well
before getting hurt he went a combined 28-15 in 2006/2007, and pitched about 200 innings each year.
but he is a 40something year old man
returning from reconstructive arm surgery. If he were 10 or even 5 years younger, i would say go for it. But i mean how many people his age come back to previous production? If nothing else he may have fallen of the cliff with out the injury.

if it was 1999
that would be a great idea- in the year of lord 2009- not so much.
I think Glavine will just retire. He was pretty bad last year- had shoulder surgery- and is of course 43 years old.
Depends. Are they juicing?
/not saying Glavine is a juicer. Like the guy as a person and a player.

he was released
That means a team can sign him for minimum wage, doesn’t it? The Braves are on the hook for his salary this year. Whoever signs him pays him league minimum, and the rest of his contract is made up by the Braves.
Paying him more just means the Braves pay him less, which wouldn’t benefit anyone but the Braves.
