Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Let's get Andruw Jones

Jones is Strokin' the ball with  9 taters in 127 AB's and has an OBP of .351 and OPS of .879. Rangers have a full outfield and with Josh Hamilton coming back before too long they will need Jones even less. I can't imagine the Rangers wanting too much for him. Let's get another slugger in the line up. He 1 (ok maybe 2) bad/pathetic seasons and has a history of being a super stroker.  This is a bat that could galvanize the lineup big time.

Andruw still on the Prince Fielder diet?

player ABs HRs RBs OBP OPS

Andruw 122 9 22 .351 .879

Laynce 154 7 21 .304 .804

  Jonny 57 3 11 .449 1.063

Andruw is prolly expensive and it looks to me like from an offensive point of view I’d just as soon have Nix and Gomes, Nix is probably a better fielder and Gomes hits LH pitching very well. And the two players give Dusty some flexibility. I wouldn’t bring in Jones to platoon that’s for sure.

League minimum (or close to it)

He signed with the Rangers for $500k, because he’ll be making deferred salary equaling close to $16M from the Dodgers throughout the next few years (for sucking). Considering the allegations that he chose Texas for it being such a hitters park, Andruw might not balk at the chance of going to GAB to help his power numbers…

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

I would accept Jimmy Haynes for Willy T straight up.

At least we could release Jimmy Haynes for the league minimum. I think we owe Willy T $6 million over two years.

so Dusty pretends he's on the roster

and writes him into the lineup to play CF everyday. A pretend Andrew Jones might have a better WAR than a real Willy T.

That was the idea

An outfield of Gomes/Nix Dickerson/Jones and Bruce would be pretty solid. But we really just need to get rid of WILLY!

I like:

Gomes/Nix LF
C-Dick/Wily CF
Jay RF

That’s right I think 2 platoons would work nevery nicely.

No Way....

….He’s eaten and roided himself nearly out of the game. His bat, as above average/good as it has been this season, isn’t worth what we’d have to pay and/or give up for him. Maybe if he was a free agent and a little cheaper. Look at this way. Corey Patterson is gone.

Salary 500,000

says CBS Sports, Willy T makes that in like a month. Now Andruw has 14 taters in 163 plate appearances. Pretty Impressive.
