GONZO GOING ON THE DL
I'm sure this will be discussed at length in the game thread tonight, but anyway:
Shortstop Alex Gonzalez was put on the disabled list with an elbow problem. He has four loose bodies floating in the area. He'll have surgery. They're hoping he'll be back in four weeks. He hurt on a swing in the final game with the Braves.
Wilkin Castillo and Danny Richar are being added to the roster. A couple of more moves are coming. Richar has to be added to 40-man. The moves won't be announced until the tell the players affected.
This lineup is slowly becoming Dusty proofed. Now maybe Cozart can get up to AAA to see what he can do. Maybe Frazier too?
Kinda felt bad posting this. You never like to see a guy get hurt, but hopefully some younger guys get a chance now.

Richar?
Why not Drew Sutton?
Who else is going down?
And how about a link to the original article? Thanks!

Ok, linked to Fya's blog post about it
Also, don’t mean to seem heartless about a guy being injured. I hope me makes a complete recovery and is ok.
Just glad we don’t have to see him in the lineup for a while.
To be fair, Richar is hitting pretty well and can play SS, unlike Sutton. Given the fact that Hairston is playing SS tonight and not Janish, Dusty clearly doesn’t want Janish to play much and is looking for a real SS to take Gonzo’s place. Maybe Richar will come up and play well. He probably won’t do any worse that Alex was.

I know what you mean about there being an inordinate amount of celebration
over players getting hurt, DFA’d, or – at best – sent down to AAA. It’s a little sad.

You made me feel bad with this post
So I changed it to make it look less celebratory. Sorry if I came across as an ass before.

Oh, I didn't mean it to be pejorative
I shared your feelings and excitement. I meant it more as an indictment of the woeful players we’ve had to deal with. I’m with you, buddy.

BTW
Richar was batting .290/.330/.438 in Louisville, which isn’t bad considering he was batting .189/.231/.270 at the end of April.

I'd rather see Sutton, but Richar has been hitting lately too
I’m not really confident that either one of them would be able to hit major league pitching, but neither can Gonzo so we’re not much worse off. But with this move, and the Votto/Alonso stuff going on, it’s about time we see a shake-up within the minor league system anyway.

Sutton seems Keppinger-esque at SS
While Richar seems Keppinger-esque at the plate. As for Wilkin, I guess a pitcher is going to be sent down, as I can’t imagine the Reds need 13 pitchers with the way innings have been eaten by the starters, especially with Volquez on his way back.

Have they had 14 on the staff?
If so, that move makes a lot more sense

I really, really hope this means some call ups to AAA for at least Cozart
and Frazier and Heisey.

If we're not going to play Janish, then we should trade him.
Hairston as our starting SS is ludicrous.

So if he's on the DL he must be transgendered...
I mean no one has ever seen ‘Amy’ and Gonzo at the same place at the same time
And of course seen last weekend at the Docks ‘vicki Votto’
