Voltron joins Votto on 15-Day DL: Elbow Tendonitis
A day after being reinstated from the DL for back spasms, Edinson Volquez returns for Elbow Tendonitis. Maybe Maloney is destined to start this weekend.

Manginas?
Do they both have manginas now? I am just looking for clarification. I figured anyone on the DL must have them right? Do I have one?

Volquez will be having surgery on his ulnar collateral ligament in the next 6 months
or my name is not Tim. A year without him? That is gonna suck big time. Might as well point our I have no inside knowledge of these things, just the experience of watching tendonitis become a torn ligament as more test and rehab continue.
The most unfair part, besides him not being around for most of the 2010 season, will be the blame Dusty gets for it. He has been careful with both of his Dominicans, but he’ll get blamed for it.

i dont know what youre talking about
Volquez has not shown any signs whatsoever that his elbow injury is anything serious. his velocity has remained the same, his command is as crappy as it ever was, and he has no history of such injuries. im not saying it’s impossible, but i think you are jumping the gun a bit.

I never said I knew what i was talking about.
But, like you, I have followed any number of gents who are DL’d for tendonitits and end up having surgery. Numbness in those fingers is most likely related to an impingement on the ulnar nerve and that impingement may be caused by a swollen tendon related to tendonitis or maybe to swelling cause by the tearing of the ligament. The Reds won’t know for a few days (until the swelling goes down) and press releases are always positive. Wouldn’t surprise me if he altered his delivery after hurting his back (both during his last game and rehabbing) and hurt his elbow.
Let me just add that I’m a little more pessimistic than you are.
yeah i suppose that's it
the last thing i want to hear right now though is that our stud young pitcher could miss the next year. so if you could, please, just keep it under your hat :)

done and done.
Hall of Famer Hal says “it’s the best news of all” because it’s just inflammation of the tendon effecting the nerve. I remain unconvinced.
in 2004 Aaron Harang went on the DL with a sore elbow
after a lose of command, velocity, and effectiveness, spent the minimum on, or maybe 3 weeks and had a rehab start, and was fine afterwords.
