MLB Draft - Day 3 Open Thread
The Reds picked up stud pitching prospect J.C. Sulbaran with a 30th round pick last year. Which late rounders this year will be the toast of Reds country? Another guy the Reds took in the later rounds last year?
Here's the 49th rounder:
Yep, that's WV quarterback/utility player Pat White. It just goes to show that you never know what might happen in the later rounds of the draft. Rounds 31-50 roll out today, with the action kicking off around 11:30. Hopefully TT will be around to drop some knowledge about the picks, and I'll try to at least announce who the Reds are picking if he's not around. If you missed his excellent reports from yesterday, you can find them here.

Or at least Reds fans here. I should be around a lot today, if you aren’t tired of me. Here’s hoping the Reds unearth some gems today.

Not much of a bat nor glove this season.
Carlson, a 6-foot, 195-pound senior, posted a line of 7-34-.256 .326 .459. He was 4-for-4 in SB and fielded just .929.
Carlson was better as a junior, having batted .349 with 53 RBI.

Intersting pick, Cannon.
He pitched just 2/3 of an inning and posted a 67.50 ERA. He is a draft-eligible sophomore and will be a difficult sign. He has a big arm, but it sounds as if he was hurt. He is 6-3, 195 and a Brewers fan from Boise, Idaho. Cannon figured to be a strong bullpen K guy until whatever derailed him. I’ll dig a little more. He pitched well in Alaska Summer League and threw a perfect game in the Area Code Games as a high schooler.
