Reds 7, Marlins 0
Another great pitching performance.
Another shutout.
Another winning road trip.
Edinson Volquez got the win, going eight shutout innings and allowing just three hits. He has now allowed just five hits in his last 21 innings. Volquez is now 4-2 and his earned run average is down to 3.47. Nick Masset pitched the ninth and looked outstanding.
The Reds have the lowest team ERA (3.61) in all of baseball. The pitching staff has six shutouts, matching the total for all of last season.

Brandon Phillips had his best game of the season, collecting three hits and driving in six runs. One of those hits was his fourth homerun of the year. Jerry Hairston, Joey Votto and Ramon Hernandez each had two hits. The Reds as a team had 14 hits on the night.
With the two-game split against the Marlins, the Reds now have a road series record of 4-0-1. Let's hope they can keep it going and improve on their home record, starting tonight against the Brewers. It will be Manny Parra (0-4) against Bronson Arroyo (4-1).
Other Reds notes:
- Ramon Hernandez caught 14 innings on Monday and was in the lineup last night. Dusty Baker said he planned to start Ryan Hanigan in the opening game of the homestand and he didn't want to give Hernandez two days off in a row. (But Hanigan isn't Arroyo's personal catcher, right?)
- Adam Rosales said he plays every day like it could be his last. I love this kid more and more every time I watch him play. I just hope he can put up the numbers to justify him staying with the big club.
- Alex Gonzalez received a cortisone injection because of his oblique strain and will be evaluated again today.
- David Weathers' next appearance will be his 906th and tie Cy Young for 19th on baseball's all-time list.

Hey, thanks for joining
Be sure to check out the main stories on this site, cuz, uh, the last two basically covered every single thing you just wrote here. We try and keep the discussion as compartmentalized as possible (allowing, of course, for the inevitable moment when we just irrevocably get off track).
I enjoy the enthusiasm. Let’s work on the redundancy. Welcome!

Thanks for having me
I am just learning the format of how the posts are published on here. It looks like a cool community. I am a leftover from Lot D. I just re-posted my MLBlog posts to get going. In the future, I will strive to approach the journalistic excellence that is usually achieved here and keep my blithering nonsense to a minimum.

Welcome
And remember, it’s all in the headline. It’s tough to top Brendan but something like “Edinson Devours Fish’s Sticks” will elicit the groans befitting a FanPost.
About your other FanPost, you may want to browse the team previews, which were authored by various thoughtful RRs shortly before the season. There’s a really excellent Brewers preview in there.

Hi, hello and welcome.
Just continue using paragraph breaks and the reply feature, and don’t impersonate parts of Reynard’s anatomy, and you’ll fit right in here.

If you DON'T use the reply feature and have lots of tipohs and misspellllings...
you’ll fit right in with some of the most respected, longest-tenured RR’s!
(Welcome! I can provide long-winded blithering nonsense should you ever require it!)

Welcome aboard
We’re a lot different than Lot D. Take a look around, and as you kind of get a feel of how things work around here, we’d love to have you join the conversation.

I'm in for sure.
FYI – I’m now a fiance and I’m in contract for a house in Hilliard. I figured you’d like to know since we talked about that not too long ago. (And i’m sure all of our internet friends would like to know too)
Hilliard, what!
but, seriously, we do need to get a Columbus group together again sometime.
