Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Anyway despite my inability operate a fucking computer.

Pete Seeger turned 90 and is pretty interesting character of true American Idealism.

Damn you.

I had managed to forget about the existence of Ani DiFranco.

Agreed.

And really disappointing to see an artist that has generally had one of the strongest, clearest, loudest critiques of patriarchal capitalism go ga-ga over a more of the same, wolf in a sheepskin jacket, neoliberal free market save the banks at the expense of the river president of the united in genocide, exploitation, and violent usurpation states of america.

Then again, I remember being a little bit happy on November 4th too.

Tanzen!

Thanks SO muchf for this Fanshot, Mads!

My 4-year old is a big Pete Seeger fan. Abi-yo-yo is her favorite book and she’s passed it on to her entire pre-school class, along with the CD of Pete performing it live.
I sat down with her and showed her bits of the video— explained who John Mellencamp, Joan Baez, Bruce Springsteen were and why Pete’s birthday was a big deal to them. Of course, it’s a little much at that age, but she thought it was really cool that 18,000 people would show up for your birthday. And really cool that someone could actually live to be 90. And she was disappointed that he didn’t perform Abi-yo-yo.
I have to admit that I knew nothing about him until she received the CD as a gift. My respect has grown leaps and bounds since then, capped by the information you shared with us. Wish I could be half as valuable a human being as Mr. Seeger!

Seeger would tell you to your face that you are equally as valuable of a human being as he is...

And he’d tell your daughter that she is the most valuable person on the planet.

Ol’ Pete is tough…fought the good fight and is still filled with optimism and love…
Back in the day he even had is own band
