Farmers Only: Zach Stewart pitches, hits, cures cancer
- Matt Maloney pitched a gem as Louisville beat Syracuse 2-1. Maloney pitched 7 innings and gave up 1 unearned run, but didn't get any run support while he was in the game. The Bats scored both of their runs in the 8th inning, when a sacrifice fly by Michael Griffin tied the game, and Luis Bolivar scored on a wild pitch to take the lead. Robert Manuel pitched a scoreless 8th for the win and Josh Roenicke earned his 4th save of the season with a scoreless 9th. Up next: MiLB.com has Homer Bailey listed to make the start for the Bats, but something tells me he'll have other commitments. Luckily, Sam LeCure also has 4 days of rest since his last start, so I think he'll get it. Game starts at 6:15.
- Carolina beat Chattanooga 4-1, as Zach Stewart wowed in his AA debut. Stewart pitched 7 innings of 5-hit, shutout ball, and struck out 8 and walked 2 in his first start for the Mudcats. Oh yeah, and he only went 2-for-3 from the plate as well. Way to go, Z-Stew. Zach Cozart had two hits and two RBI, and Juan Francisco was 2-for-5 with his 7th HR of the season. Up next: Woody! Travis Wood takes on Chattanooga at 7:15.
- Sarasota was rained out. Bummer. Jerry Gil is listed as the starter for tomorrow as the S-Reds start a new series against St. Lucie at 6.
- Dayton teed off on QC starting pitching, scoring 9 runs in the first inning to beat the River Bandits 9-5. David Sappelt, Cody Puckett, and Humberto Sosa all had two hits and two RBI each, and Kyle Day and Byron Wiley each had two hits as well. The newest Dragon, outfielder Andrew Means DHed in this one, and went 1-for-3 with an RBI. J.C. Sulbaran started the game for Dayton, and went 5 innings of 3 run ball, striking out 6. He seems to have had some control problems, as he walked 4 hitters, but it was still a solid start. Up next: Matt Fairel takes on Burlington at 7:30.
- Roster Moves: Norris Hopper isn't on the DL anymore, and was 1-for-4 in his return from injury. Even though they didn't play today, Sarasota put Alex Buchholz on the 7-day DL, with an injury I haven't quite figured out yet. You'll know more as soon as I do, but I hope it isn't serious.

That's what I was wondering
Doug said at the beginning of the year that the organization still considered him a reliever but was letting him start so he had time to develop his other pitches.
At what point do they consider him a starter? He’d have so much more value and would immediately enter the top-10 Reds prospects list, IMO.
Isn't there a slanket somewhere you should be filling with your farts?
