Tommy John for Billy Bray
Reds reliever Bill Bray will return to Cincinnati next week for Tommy John surgery.
He's been on the DL since April 6 with an elbow strain. He's currently in Sarasota where he was attempting to rehab the elbow. He appeared in three games for AAA Louisville this year.

This sucks
If Something happens to Rhodes / Herrera, we are down to one solid option at AAA, LHP Pedro Viola. Pedro is having himself a fine year for the Bats.

blows
but I am optimistic, with there being so many pitchers coming back after surgery and being more successful.
silver lining? an extra year of team control. Because Castellini will need the extra money with all of the dough he will be passing around to a roster full of world series winners.

perhaps
Bray may petition to be placed on the big league DL, and make the claim that his didn’t happen over night, and is a result of previous wear and tear at the big league level.

silver lining? 40-man spot open
I’m pretty sure this is 60-day-dl worthy.
So who gets it? Viola is the obvious choice, but one could argue for Stubbs or some AAA infielder.

Tommy John for Billy Bray?
doesn’t seem like a fair trade to me.

Tommy John
is a color guy for the Charlotte Knights games. Or was. Man, does he ever yak. He goes on and on and on. At first I found it incredibly annoying. But when he talks about baseball, it’s interesting. He remembers playing against a lot of the players who are minor leaguers now. And his stories of life as a minor leaguer are interesting. Mostly.

Austin Kearns has put up a 110 OPS+ for the Nationals this year
I’m going to the game tonight. If his at-bat music isn’t Morgan Freeman saying, “I guess I just missed my friend,” then I will be sorely disappointed.

I put the over/under
of AK’s OPS+ at the end of the season @ 92. And hell, I always liked Kearns.
