The only thing I can think of

is that Taveras played hurt last year, and Jocketty took a gamble that the injuries were and would stay behind him. His projections coming into ’08 were a lot better than coming into this year. His ’08 ZiPS was at 292/344/351, for instance.

Slyde mentioned in the first thread that he can’t see Nix continuing to hit. I want to know why not? I mean, maybe not crazy AllStar/fulfilled stud prospect levels, but at least at a productive MLB level. (And the guy can play some nice D too.)

I guess for me it comes down to what it always comes down to for me and the ‘09-’11 Reds… do we really think we’re gonna make a run at 90 wins this season? And just how big is this big bat that Walt’s gonna get us in LF?
