Game 32, Thread 3: Lopez thinks it's a damn fight
The top of the order has been impressive beyond all reasonable expectation, but everyone is contributing tonight. And that's why we're ahead, 8-4, in the top of the 6th.

Well, if not the Cards as a whole, what about Pujols?
He’d reached base in every game he played, and the Reds kept him off twice. Only one hit in the entire series (which was a home run, but c’mon, it’s Pujols).

The fact that I'm told that Willy Taveras's OBP is .376 by an FSN graphic and Chris Welsh
makes me happy for no less than three reasons

Yes, but for good reason
There was nothing coming into the season that he was going to have the season he’s had, and he got too much money to play everyday in a position where the Reds were fairly deep (at least we thought).
"We, as for me all seasons you are affected peculiarly in the edge of my seat and are happy concerning the fact that the Adam Dunn fan has been mixed up exactly." - Reynard-san
The only thing I can think of
is that Taveras played hurt last year, and Jocketty took a gamble that the injuries were and would stay behind him. His projections coming into ’08 were a lot better than coming into this year. His ’08 ZiPS was at 292/344/351, for instance.

Slyde mentioned in the first thread that he can’t see Nix continuing to hit. I want to know why not? I mean, maybe not crazy AllStar/fulfilled stud prospect levels, but at least at a productive MLB level. (And the guy can play some nice D too.)
I guess for me it comes down to what it always comes down to for me and the ‘09-’11 Reds… do we really think we’re gonna make a run at 90 wins this season? And just how big is this big bat that Walt’s gonna get us in LF?
