Arroyo's hand worries Reds - DL possible
From John Erardi:
"Results awaited on examination of right-hander...
...Depending on the results of Arroyo's examination Saturday, it is possible he will begin the season on the 15-day disabled list. He wouldn't have to sit out the full 15 days, though; presumably, a DL stint could be back-dated to some point during spring training."
"Arroyo (carpal tunnel) was hit hard again on Friday night, this time by the Reds' Double-A Carolina affiliate, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. He gave up six runs on seven hits over three innings.
Arroyo insists that he can pitch through this recent flare up of carpal tunnel symptoms in his hand. Recent results suggest otherwise.
Arroyo went ahead of the team to Cincinnati to get his right hand (carpal tunnel) examined, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
It wouldn't be a terribly big surprise to see Arroyo on the DL to start the year. The Reds could that way delay their fifth starter decision between Micah Owings and Homer Bailey."
