We win again!
[Ed. Note: I had to leave in the middle of the 2nd inning. I'm sure our pitching and defense took care of everything]
Joe Nuxhall Memorial Honorary Star of the Game
Jay Bruce. Jay hit his second home run of the season in his return to the lineup, and may finally be coming around with the bat.
Key Plays
- Jay Bruce hit a home run! Reds lead 1-0.
Other Notes
- Jay Bruce is awesome!
- This seems like bad timing.

if only Dusty had a bit of creativity....
Although to be fair creativity is overated

Its probably going to happen - bend over
Lineup, Lincoln
Didn’t play Janish and Hannigan. Batted Owings 9th so he only got two AB (although it would have only been two if he’d of batted 7th). Made sure the game got out of hand by putting in Lincoln with the bases loaded. Ya know, just being Dusty..

well
Owings did K in both of his ABs.

Do power hitters bunt?
Oh yeah.. I guess he is a pitcher and should swing away..

I'm not that disappointed about Janish and Hanigan and batting Owings 9th
Batting Owings cleanup or something makes sense until the late innings and you have Darnell McDonald coming up with runners on base. I’m fine with 9th for that reason. But the Lincoln thing was indefensible. This “giving players a chance to redeem themselves” bullshit has got to stop. Bottom line, put someone in who’s going to get somebody out. I don’t care if it’s Rhodes, Weathers, or fucking Coco for Christ’s sake, get out of the inning. He brought Lincoln in with a runner on 3rd, he promptly walked the bases loaded, and walked in a run. How is it a good idea to leave a guy in the game in that situation? And have him start the next inning!? Lincoln started that game with an ERA of 17 and it went UP.

I get the "redemption" thing, because you're going to need the guy to pitch through the season
But Dusty has to pick his spots better. Put Lincoln in a spot where he’s more likely to succeed in a low-pressure situation. That will build up his confidence to the point where he can be effective in a high-pressure spot last night.
I was really surprised that Masset didn’t come into the game, since he is the long reliever and has actually been pretty sharp. Perhaps there was some other issue that prevented him from pitching that Dusty knew and we don’t, so I’ll give him a little bit of slack there. But if Masset’s ready to go, he should have been the choice.

Re: Masset
I don’t think so, Masset started throwing when Lincoln dug the Reds deeper in the 5th. Why I do not know, by the time Masset would have been ready the inning would have been over or the game would have been out of hand, in the case of the ladder the Reds mightaswell have saved Masset for another day.

I think Masset was warming up before Lincoln came in..
Lincoln warmed up very early that inning.. I could be wrong though..

than i am completely befuddled
based on the first two weeks, Masset is much more likely to record an out in his first attempt than Lincoln.

We need to win the next two games
If only to get the people on my Facebook page to shut the hell up
Needless to say, this didn't work and everybody died.
I got a huge kick out of this game recap,
but its dangerous to be a recurring event. If we ignore the bad, we’ll end up with Lincoln as the Rolaids Relief Man of the Year or some such bull.
But this is the first “yuck” game of the season, that I can recall.
Drinking Slyde's haterade since 2009.
Yeah, I don't intend to gloss over losses
But this one was just really ugly and depressing, and I was in no mood to parse it so quickly after it was over.

unreleated
but if you go to the Saturday’s probable pitchers it indicates that Bronson took himself out of his last start, not Dusty…

That's two starts in a row where he claimed to have been "spent".

Ummm this probably wasn't a game that was to be won after C-Dicked up in the outfield
Shit happens, you can’t win ’em all, Dustbong has got to get guys like Lincoln in the game and work their kinks out. However if this teams falls into any kind of a multiple game losing streak then it is in very deep and gooey shit.
Lets get the next two…Cueto VS Lily oughta be a good one
Its probably going to happen - bend over
i am worried about the next two pitching matchups
i foresee a certain visiting team scoring very few runs, if any.
