He looks it
But to catch regularly into your late 30s is pretty amazing. If steroid users are supposed to suffer a rash of injuries or abruptly decline when their body can’t hack it anymore, I’m not sure if Pudge fits the profile.
I have no doubt he's an incredible athlete
but he went from kind of doughy to incredibly jacked along a suspicious time-line, mostly while playing with the Rangers. Now that the steroid ban-hammer has come down, he’s remarkably trim.
I would be shocked if he did all that clean. Shocked.
Will you stop it with the vegetables
by Man Mountain on Apr 20, 2009 11:08 PM EDT up reply actions
But it's all based on looks
His performance doesn’t really bear it out. From ‘04 to ’05, when the PEDs suspension policy was implemented, his SLG dipped from 510 to 444 but it was all lost singles – his AVG went from 334 to 276. He then slugged 437 and 420 in the next two years. Looks like natural aging to me. He also never had an insane, Brady Anderson-type season. 35 HR as a career high in Texas, in that run environment, isn’t that suspicious.
He does look a lot trimmer now. He probably committed himself to losing a lot of weight to prolong his catching career. It’s a little suspect, but I don’t put him in the same steroid-suspect class as Sosa or someone like that.

Wow, 3 out of 4 in Houston!
Not bad. I sure like playing Houston early in the season before they get hot. Unlike last year, when we didn’t play them until late July.
I love comments like this
“I’m glad we’re getting these wins in while the other teams are playing shitty!” ha ha ha ha
I mean, I get it, and you’re right, but still, I think it’s funny
Needless to say, this didn't work and everybody died.
by SullivanSmith on Apr 20, 2009 11:02 PM EDT up reply actions
Just being honest.
On the flip side, I just hate playing teams when they’re blazing hot. Houston always gets hot after June 1. The Cubs racked up wins against Houston last year early, and the Reds had to play them 14 times after the All Star break.
I'm glad we're getting these wins now
Because I don’t think we’re playing as well as we could be either. Early wins are good for morale
Needless to say, this didn't work and everybody died.

Now it's off to Chicago.
I’d love to take 2 of 3 there.
I'm guessing 2 of three get rained out.
We’re getting rain/snow here tomorrow. But it’ll be 80 on Friday.
3 hits from the Catcher and Shortstop in one game.
that is shocking.
I cannot stand it.
For three games in a row I jumped at that stupid commercial, and I knew it was coming. It makes me realize how idiotic I truly am.
I agree..
Do no want.. I can’t stand crash commercials.. Once you’ve been in something like that, they are very uncomfortable reminders.(my car)
(his car). I won – for wearing my seat belt. He lost – completely..

His..
2 lane highway (63). He bounced off of the guard rail on his side and came across. I didn’t even have time to hit the breaks.. Both speeds est. at 55.

I am.
I think everyone is going to be in one bad accident in their life and this was mine.. It was about 10 days before my 30th bday.. I got out, grabbed a truckers fire extinguisher and put his car fire out then called 911. I wasn’t about to look in his car though.. Couldn’t do it..
Education is what you get from reading the directions. Experience is what you get from not reading them.
Nothing major.
Pulled muscles in my chest from trying to hold onto the steering wheel. (As minor as that was it took about a month before I could sleep comfortably) . Had a bloody nose and probably a very minor concussion from hitting my head on the mirror as I went over my seat belt and over the airbag (or the shear g-forces exerted) .. But at 110 mph est speed, what do you expect..
Yeah, the cops couldn’t believe I was out of the hospital looking at my car at the tow yard two hours later. They were still wrapping up their investigation.

2 lane highways still bug me
But other than that, I didn’t have any issues.. You gotta keep on..
Education is what you get from reading the directions. Experience is what you get from not reading them.
Good for you.
I was hit by a semi in a turn lane but walked away with no injuries and I cannot stand that commerical. With what you went through, I would be tempted to shut the tv off.
From experience
It takes awhile to really get back on the horse. There’s a lot of flinching and looking over your shoulder, and not ever being fully convinced the other guy is going to stop in time.
by Brendanukkah on Apr 20, 2009 11:38 PM EDT up reply actions
this doesn't come close to comparing to what snohio went through
but i was driving to fast in the lane and hit a guard rail when i was 17, no one was hurt, and i drove my car away. I was kind of a mess for the next 2 months when i drove.
I think it was good for me in a way, because of that I slow down in the rain and snow, because I think about what can happen.
Yeah I fucked that up.
