Coke is now the Reds drink, and other important things to know when going out ot the ole ball yard

via the fay

This serves as a public service announcement to help all of us greater enjoy a game, while spending less money.

This makes me wonder how much influence Griffey had over that.  Coke was the soft drink of the Reds as far as I could remember until 1999, don't believe me check your sovenior cups.  Can one star players personal sponser change the entire marketing of a team.  Remember that Griffey was a paid a pretty penny to be a spokesman for Pepsi.  Is this normal throughout sports?

Also remember that before the Reds dropped Coke, Coke had a bottling plant in Cincinnati, I remember seeing Cincinnati on my coke bottles, and now they are botteled in Atlanta.

Some other changes.

They have added a hit me sign to the truck.

The HOF and Museam has an exhibit about Crosley Field and the Negro Leagues.

The Reds have bought a shitton of carbon emissions so they don't destroy the environment.

And remember like always you can take food into the park, and this was in another thread but I will reiterate it here.

Guests are welcome to bring SOFT-SIDED coolers into Great American Ball Park provided the coolers' dimensions do not exceed the 16" x 16" x 8" inch Major League Baseball size requirement. HARD-SIDED coolers of any size are prohibited from entering the ballpark. Coolers and all carry-in items are always subject to inspection by Reds personnel prior to entrance to the ballpark or at any time while inside the ballpark. The Reds are not responsible for HARD-SIDED coolers that are left outside of the ballpark gates. Guests are strongly encouraged to return their HARD-SIDED coolers to their vehicles.

A couple other changes to make note of

In the photo gallery I linked here (direct link), There’s a new HUGE video scoreboard, and the manual out-of-town scoreboard has been replaced by a video screen. What I noticed yesterday was that the standings flag poles in RF are also now, you guessed it, video screens (direct link to pic, which is crappy as it was taken with my phone).

Me personally, I liked the manual scoreboard on the LF wall and I loved the old school standings flags.

I don’t remember seeing a hit me sign on the truck but it doesn’t really matter, King Kong couldn’t hit that SOB.

I miss the old days of the internet when men were men, hot girls were middle aged men, and hot underage girls were FBI agents.....

Jacobs field has a video screen on their LF wall too

I actually think it’s kind of cool as long as they use it for information and not just another place to put silly graphics and advertisements. A video scoreboard would give them the ability to show the base situation in an out-of-town game or pretty much anything that we see on Gameday, if they wanted to. I’m not sure they’ll use it for that, but it would be cool to be able to more closely follow other games between innings.

They do a hybrid of ads and scoreboard info on the walls at Dodger Stadium.

I think they mostly run the ads in between innings, or they keep it a solid blue billboard ad, like a beer logo.

I think you’d find it acceptable there…but not at Fenway.

I prefer the old-school. Baseball is more than 20% history/nostalgia/tradition, if yaknowhuttimean. The more you play into it in inexpensive ways, the better off you are in using that tradition as an asset. Fireworks. Hot Dog vendors. Pipe Organs. Roasted Nuts. Straw hats on ushers. Manual Scoreboards. A 4-piece traveling band of musicians/barbershop quartet wandering the concourses and cheering the boys on. Old school is classy and always cool. The W flag at Wrigley. And, to some extent, the CITGO sign.

And on I prattle…

Oooh. A real MLB scoreboard!

Any idea what the aspect ratio of that thing is? Imagine; Kiss cam and the Skyline Chili Reds mascot races all in HD creaminess!

the manual scoreboard was one of the good things about the park.

Great News

I like Coke way better than Pepsi.

It also goes better with the Bourbon I sneak into the ballpark down my pants. They haven’t instituted a crotch-checking policy these days have they?

If you hit someone with or throw a soft side cooler, far less damage is done.

I WILL beat your face!

I contend I could do the same damage a hard cooler would, with a soft cooler full of weaponized coke bottles. If they’re both full of nacho chips, I concede the point.

If you parked 6 blocks away, you'll be unhappy to lug a full cooler back to your car, especially while in line after first pitch.

The fan-friendly thing to do is to give away ad-supported soft-side cooler bags to fans that need them, along with a key to a complimentary mini storage locker – big enough for a cooler. Similar lockers should be available – for free – for bicycles and wheelchairs.

Very medicated today, gang…but can’t stop typing….Madville is a contagion…feeling urge to roll balls and lust for slender soccer succubi…
