Dallas McPherson anyone?
According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Marlins have released 1B/3B Dallas McPherson. He bats lefty, and according to his numbers has always had enormous power. Looks like he has never had a real shot in the majors, so he could be the prototypical AAAA player. He had a monster year for the Marlins AAA team last year... .275/.379/.618 with 42 bombs (I know the PCL inflates those numbers some). He did make 17 errors at 3B last year, so he is somewhat like Encarnacion in the field, but he would be a good lefty bench bat that could play both corners. He has had injury trouble in the past, but played a full season last year.
Career Minor League batting line in 2,273 At bats:
AVG OBP SLG OPS
.296/ .380 / .586/ .966
2B- 138
3b- 35
HR- 150
Thoughts anyone?

I'll admit
I’m kind of curious to have two Dallases in the system.

You'd have to change McPherson's name to Fort Worth

Given that he was just cut
That seems ironic.

Can you believe Casey McGehee is on the Brewers?

If a guy is not yet 30 years old and he hits 42 HR at any level...
…I’d find room somewhere in my organization for him.
How does he not have any trade value for the Fish?

I think the problem is twofold
I think he’s had injury issues for a bit and also his numbers last season were as a 27-year old in the PCL, which is a big time hitters league and Albuquerque is a big time hitters park. So, I’m guessing there is some suspicion as to whether or not he can actually hit in the Majors.

McPherson
Used to be a big time prospect in the Angels system. While he certainly isn’t a 40 HR guy, he is very likely a guy who can be a 25 HR guy in the majors. I just can’t believe that no one thinks this guy was worth a lower level prospect in a trade. Unless there is some injury he is dealing with that we don’t know about, I just can’t get how no one made an offer that was better than just releasing this guy. I would absolutely put him on our bench.
