Spring Game 10 Thread: Reds at Blue Jays
Sorry, when I wrote this up there were no lineups posted. Free sucker to the first person to post the lineups in the game thread...
Homer Bailey continues to try to prove that he is new AND improved today. Ideally, I'd like to see him dominate again today and then have his bump in the road next week against the Yankees. That way, he can keep building his confidence up and then get knocked down a notch to prove to himself that the needs to keep working. I'm not a psychologist, but I play one on the internet.
The Blue Jays are throwing right-hander Jesse Litsch up on the mound. Litsch is a very good young pitcher. He doesn't strike out many batters, but he makes up for that by not walking many and by getting a ton of ground balls. Hopefully the New, Speedier Reds® will be able to take him off his game and turn some HAVOC into runs.
Game time is 1:05pm today. Oh, and The Reds are on the Radio! Catch them on Gameday Audio, XM Satellite, or on your local Reds affiliate today. I think I recall Marty saying that tHom will be calling the game today, probably with Jeff Brantley. If you don't have access to audio, try Gameday.
Also, the U.S. takes on Canada in Toronto today at 2pm ET in the World Baseball Classic. If you would like to talk about that game, please do so in the WBC thread since andromache puts her time into those. Thanks! Go Reds! Geaux Votto! USA! USA! USA!

it's ah-ight
I really just don’t want a bunch of WBC clutter in the Reds thread. Even still, it’s 70 degrees and sunny, so whatever, I’m hanging out outside today!

Got to listen to the Twins broadcast yesterday
but can’t pick up the wlw broadcast today. Are the blackout restrictions different in different markets?
I've given up trying to figure it out.
This Reds/Jays game is not on XM. Why?

they only broadcast it on XM if the hometeam announces the game.

They have no chance.

I think the home team rule applies to the regular season
but I remember being able to get a lot more Spring Training games last season. I ‘m guessing finances are cutting down on the number of preseason games. I was hoping that you’d be able to choose between home or away since the merger has been completed— it seems there’s a lot of channels slated for NFL play-by-play (and NHL, for that matter) that aren’t being used. ANYTHING so I don’t have to listen to the Wrigley Whiners.

well i think their audience is too limited
most people think that since they can get the radio for free in their car, so XM radio is a luxury, or even a redundancy.

you'd think that
with the satellites already up there, the costs wouldn’t be too bad. And with the world globalizing and more people being way more itinerant, it would stick around.
I’ve been wrong before, though.

If they can hang on, they'll thrive in the long run
Free radio is getting really bad, as the ipod revolution has people knowing they don’t have to settle for the crap that radio gives them. But satellite radio will do better once people start buying cars again. It’s offered in many if not most new cars now, and the content is terrific. Once the economy recovers, satellite radio will take off. I just hope they don’t pack it in before then. I had XM for three years but cancelled because I’m never in my car anymore.

heck of a slide to break up DP.
Votto just created the BIG HAVOC.
Any bets whether T-Virus was running on his own
or if Grandpapa Alou was sending him with 1 out in a one-run game?

New Here
Just saying hello…
and did anyone notice that Homer has only thrown 18 pitches through 4 innings?
hi hello and welcome
if you are following gameday, it does not keep a pitchcount. It credits liek 3 pitches for a K, 4 for BB, and 1 for a ball in play.

Very unimpressive game from Bailey today
He threw one good inning and looked gassed afterword. Won’t take much for Owings to beat that poor performance.
he gave up 1 run in 4 innings
sounds like a decent line to me. and unless you were there to see it in person…

postgame recap
from SI:
Joey Votto was the offensive star of the game, going 4-for-5 with a homer and two doubles. He and Russell Martin got six of Canada’s seven hits and scored four of their five runs. Jason Bay drew three walks and scored the other run. It’s interesting to note the left-on-base numbers in the top-heavy Canadian batting order. The top five men left just five men on base. The bottom four left 12 on base (that’s adding up the individual numbers; as a team, both Canada and the U.S. stranded nine men each).
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
I was watching the highlights last night at a bar
I was introduced to a friend’s Marine friends, then peeked over at the highlights. The few and the proud didn’t like it when I let out an audible “Fuck yes!” when they showed Votto’s highlights. But dude can rake…I’m excited that he’s one of the good guys (meaning a Red, not so much Canadian).
