Spring Game 24 Thread: Blue Jays at Reds

MLB Florida and Arizona Spring Training - SB Nation

Edinson Volquez on the mound today.  Did you know that he has only given up 1 ER in this Spring in 14 innings pitched, including games for the D.R.?  He gave up 6 hits and 2 walks to the Rays last Wednesday, so that's got to improve, but otherwise he's had a solid Spring, for sure.

On the mound for the Blue Jays is Ricky Romero.  If he fails, Lucy is going to be pissed.

You can see lineups after the jump.

Apparently

Johnny Cueto doesn’t want Willy -T either. Knocked him out of the line-up. how many people got just a little bit excited when they read that Willy T was hurting?
The way things have gone this spring, A Gomes/Nix platoon in left with Dickerson in center might sound good.
Oh well, it is just a bruise.

I'm not so down on T-bagger at this point

He’s taken some walks, has his OBP up where it should be…..It’s only 30 or so plate appearances, but if he can keep it going, he’ll be a decent leadoff guy.

by nycredsfan on Mar 23, 2009 1:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Sort of good news!

Nick Masset is of the running [sic] for the fifth starter position! However, Dusy has said that he’ll be used out of the bullpen. Fay thinks Owings will win the fifth starter position, so that’s looking like Homer will start the year in Louisville. Unless Bray starts the season on the DL, and Bailey is put in the pen. It’s a shame, because Homer has had a fantastic spring, better than anyone could have hoped. He’s pitched much better than Masset, for damn sure.

by Brendanukkah on Mar 23, 2009 1:07 PM EDT reply actions

I think if Bray is hurt

DR Herrera makes the team.

I agree

They’ll want another lefty, plus Homer probably only makes it as the long man

I like that they're batting a DH...

But we’re not.

We want to build long period of time. I didn’t come here for the shot run.

As good a place as any to ask...

Is there a listing off all of MLB Team Previews our fine folks are doing? I checked the wiki – which might be a place to put links to them, but didn’t see them..

Woo hoo. Reds on Gameday.

Oh yeah, UDF gas fill-ups result in 50% off Reds tickets with receipt. Didn’t look like there was a limit.. I’ll hang on to it for Game 2..

Nice to see Janish showing some competence with the bat

Also Gomes still seems to want to make the team.

You should have seen how excited people got when he came to the plate. The little kids were squealing, the adults were all expecting him to get a big hit. I think he’ll be one of the last cut.
