MLB Network 30 Clubs in 30 Days
Has anyone been catching the 30 Clubs in 30 Days programming on MLB Network? I've watched a couple and I think they do a pretty good job of breaking down the teams preseason. They do decent interviews and it is nice to see some of the other teams.
The Reds are coming up on March 5th. You can check MLB's site for the schedule: http://mlb.mlb.com/network/schedule/. It will be fun watching "The Mayor's" take on the 09 Reds. Casey isn't doing every one, but I'm sure they will have him on the desk for the Reds.

I'm checking out the Mets episode right now
I just saw the Von Bondies in concert a couple weeks ago, so the constant use of “C’mon, C’mon” is giving me some serious flashbacks.
i've been checking the guide to see when the reds came up .. thanks for the date

I think the 30 Teams in 30 Days
is excellent. I am really impressed with the network as a whole.
I think Barry Larkin is much better than I expected.
Also, I may get crucified for writhing this, but I am glad to see Harold Reynolds back on TV. Hopefully he will keep his hand off of Hazel Mae.
I would think ESPN is hating this network. Karl Ravech and his magical hairpiece have to be sweating bullets.

I give Karl Ravech a year before he jumps networks
I think he gets seriously frustrated dealing with the idiocy that he gets stuck with on a nightly basis on Baseball Tonight.
"How big IS your magic wand?"
Agreed
I’ve always been a fan of Ravech on Baseball Tonight, and I think a reunion of him and Reynolds would be great for their MLB Tonight show
Bonjour, Hola, and Willkommen
I agree. Reynolds and Ravech worked well together. If MLBN has the money to steal people from ESPN, I imagine that Ravech will be the first one they go after.
"How big IS your magic wand?"
I do like Ravech, and MLB Network has been impressing me nonstop
I think he’d make a great addition there and would fit really well. Conversely, it’s been so long since I’ve watched ESPN for anything but a sporting event that they happened to televise. It’s damn near unwatchable.

I'm with you
Since MLBN’s debut, I can’t recall tuning into ESPN at all. But, then again I’m only a two sport kind of guy.

was there the same kind of reaction when the nfl got their own channel?
i don’t remember anything about that, as i’m not a fan of that sport. but it seems to me like baseball tonight is going to lose most of its viewers (except those who have dish network).
i think larkin and casey work well together – the other day casey pulled out a bottle of the Larkin wine and it was hilarious.
The NFL network shot themselves in the foot and didn't get wide distribution because of it
MLBN was smart to sign the cable networks and DirectTV up to have stake in the deal since they could launch big right out of the gate. Add to that the fact that MLBN has so much more reusable content than the NFL, and it is pretty hard for them to screw it up. Plus, I think MLB is much more media/tech savvy than the NFL. MLBAM has been worlds ahead of the other sports for years.
"How big IS your magic wand?"
Exactly
I still don’t get NFL Network, even two years after the launch, but I’ve had MLBN since day 1. Definitely goes a long way in determining my perception of the networks as an average American sports fan who can’t afford to subscribe to the “sports tier” after paying for my cable.

I've had the NFL Network and the MLB Network since their inceptions
I don’t know exactly what it is, but the MLB Network seems more polished, more necessary, than the NFL Network was. It might be that football’s offseason is longer (and more people care about spring training than football’s summer workouts) so there’s less “dead time” to fill, or it might just be the talent that MLBN was able to get, but they’re certainly doing something better. I’ve gotten a lot of interesting insights from the commentators which is rare to me. Getting Reynolds was a big coup. As a Reds fan, I like to see Larkin and Casey, and they seem to go out of their way to feature Pete Rose.
The one time I typically watch the NFL Network is when they’re doing their Sunday Scoreboard, where they cycle through the stats of all the games that are going on, and cut to the various radio broadcasts. There’s no picture, just stats, and is handy for fantasy purposes.

i agree about pete rose
i’ve been a little surprised by it.
another thing i love about larkin being on is that he’s not one of those shouting talking heads or one of the joe morgan types that has to put in a personal when i played i was better story for everything. barry has some humility. i loved watching him when they were talking to him about getting into the Hall next year and he was really shy about it.
i still watch PTI and Around the Horn, but that's it

oh, ravich is good ... but mlb needs to get the kruk over to their network

What’s the deal with that ’93 Phillies team? Why does Darren Daulton seem like the smart one?

MLBN already has Al Leiter
They need to go after Dan Shulman. That would be the best announcing booth ever created. Everything they do on top of that would be gravy.

I prefer MLBN's Matt Vasgersian to Ravech
He seems like a intelligent fan and knows how to lead the panelists, kind of like Ernie Johnson.
I do like the 30 days series. I’d prefer more numbers, but not all fans would and in any event it’s miles ahead of anything ESPN has done. A lot of it is fluff, but they’re also going into historical bits. On the Detroit episode they did an all-time team and interviewed Al Kaline. I had no idea he was still alive.

Their all-time Nationals team
Only had two Nationals on it. One was Ryan Zimmerman and the other was Nick Johnson, who was relegated to the bench. All the rest were Expos.
that makes sense ... they've only existed for a couple of years
i mean, who are you going to put on it …. felipe lopez?

do you think Kenny Rodgers parks in it
just to be an ass?
...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield
He throws batteries at Al Kaline

I am watching 30 Clubs
in 30 Days on the Marlins. Could their manager, Fredi Gonzalez, and the Nats manager, Manny Acta, look any more alike?

baseball tonight had a 2 hour show today
I thought with the added competition they’d try and kick it up a notch. It was the same ol’, same ol’. Lots of interviews with Yankees and Sawx mixed in with some Mets and Braves.
I've thought they've smelled like number two for awhile.

Yes indeed. Well played..
Education is what you get from reading the directions. Experience is what you get from not reading them.
I'm thinking of switching from Wide Open West to Time Warner solely because I think I want MLBN.
Should I?
Do I?

I'm a fan of TW
I refused to patronize Insight when I was in northern KY because of their ineptitude, but TW has been very good to me.

Indeed
Then that way you and I can watch the exact same programming: Noggin, MLB Network, and Cinemax after 11p.m.

Ahh... Little BIll, Barry Larkin and Shannon Tweed.
