Phillips Yesterday
Anybody else a little encouraged?
Link from Reds.com
I read this yesterday and was a little encouraged by what BP was saying. That his concern this year was not trying to match his 30-30 season from 2007, but to continue to play Gold Glove defense and not press for power.
Seems like a different BP than the one last year who looked at times last year to press and try to jack everything out of left field. If this is the case and he can cut down on the strikeouts, take a little more walks, and hit the ball to all fields, I feel a lot better about our 3-5 spots in the order.
Thoughts on his comments?

Nice to hear Brandon speak realistically
Man Mountain has posted a fanshot featuring a great interview w/Chris Welsh about the 2009 Reds and if you can take the time and listen to it. He (Welsh) pulls no punches and has some insightful commentary regard BP as well as the team in general.

i would be more encouraged
if Dusty would stop being so myopic and think about hitting Votto and Bruce 3-4. i like BP a heckuva lot, but he just not cut out to be a middle-of-the-order bat. i like what Phillips is saying and i think he will rebound a bit from last year, but it wont matter much if Dusty doesnt put him in the best position to win games.

Definitely encouraging
Let’s hope he backs it up! As well as EE not trying to pull everything. The words are right, at least— Dusty can’t say the same thing.
