It would get some buns in the seats for sure.

All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?

heheh, girl pitcher, heheh, buns

Seriously though, I’d love to see it. I’d also love to see the first girl “real” pitcher, throwing an 86 mph fastball and nasty breaking stuff. It’s the next barrier to be broken down, and needs to happen.

On a side note, because I’m dumb: is it specified in the MLB rules that a pitcher HAS to throw overhand? The underhand motion is far more efficient IIRC, and would obviously benefit any woman who came up playing fast pitch.

Nope, there are definitely underarm pitchers in mlb - Chad Bradford throws underam.

I was talking with a friend and we agreed that it would be great if a team would go out and draft/sign, say, the four best college softball pitchers, and just see how it turns out.

IAN! I'm on traain!

I think there is a rule, now

there was that fast-pitch dude who came into spring training camps and made everyone look silly. The pitchers basically threw a fit and refused to pitch unless everyone pitched how MEN pitched

I think it has to do with something like "Starting from an overhand position"

Bradford could get away with it because he would dip his shoulder and come around and up. A softball pitcher has no dip — all throws are straight ahead.

I believe that’s the ’technical’* difference.

I'd love to see her get a chance to prove herself.

Especially if it were in Goodyear.

Give me a lineup of 9 Ryan Freels, and I'll show you a team that can't pitch.

Let's bring her in.

2yrs/$6mil guaranteed should do it, don’t you think?

Works for everyone else who dates Dusty's daughter.

Except that if there’s a webcam, we might be able to recoup most of that salary this time. :P

I especially like how well spoken she is.

It is good that she is fluent in the Kyoto-ben dialect…otherwise it would have been hard to understand her.

She even brings her own team with her to the try outs.

Classy Cardinals Reprise!

I hope to construct a music video montage of classy St. Louis Cardinal moments, perhaps setting it to Mariah Carey's "Hero."

Please take a moment to find the classiest incidents in recent Cardinal history, and link to an article covering the event, or video or pictures if you can find them. And if you just have a ridiculous photo of a recent Cardinal, please post a link here to the highest resolution image you can find.

I think we can all learn from such a classy organization. Let's give it a try.
