Sunny Sunday Open Thread
Wow! What a beautiful day in Cincinnati! It's supposed to creep up into the seventies today, and there is a ton of sun shine! You can not complain about this weather for a Sunday in Cincinnati.
The baseball season is officially over, and it appears that the Hot Stove League is under way. There is a fairly important Bengals game that has just started, so I suppose this could serve as a place to discuss that game!
Also, what is everyone eating and drinking for their sunday afternoon? I got Buffalo Wild Wings to eat, and I hit the liquor store for a "create your own" six pack. I just had an Arrogant Bastard Ale, and it was pretty good. Hopefully, you guys are like me, and in the mood to spend the Sunday with all your favorite Red Reporters!

I ate at a place called Roy's last night, and will be eating at a place called Ray's today
Both of them are gloriously fantastic. Ray’s Hell Burger has been discussed here before, but Roy’s Place in Gaithersburg, MD was new to me. They have something like 180 different sandwiches, and the menu reads like it was written by Madville. I ordered a Mother’s Ruin, which is two Italian sausages, provolone cheese, grilled onions and green peppers served on french bread. Delicious!
Bengals 7 - Ravens 0
who says we can’t run against these guys.
I gave up working out. My philosophy: No pain... no pain. ...

The Bengals is we or we is the Bengals...don't you feel any kind of cincinnati identity with the Bengals?

they arent just winning this game
they are completely out-classing the Ravens. it’s only a quarter-and-a-half in, but the Ravens look like obc’s Spartans out there (no offense dude).

ive been waiting about 10 minutes for schaub to hand off to moats for a TD
how long does a 2-minute warning last?

now it says
“M. Schaub passed to R. Moats to the left for 70 yard loss. R. Moats fumbled”
something sounds amiss.

I wonder if the movie is any good
I liked the book. I’m guessing the market inefficiency theme will get less play in the film.

im guessing the father-as-potentially-sinister-ole-miss-booster theme doesnt get much play either

University of cincinnati remains at #5 in the BCS
TCU leapfrogs them…BS BS BS..

The computer ratings are something like 3 or 4 points apart between UC and TCU
I don’t have any expectation that UC will get any higher than 4 because of the way the ratings are graded. But TCU ?
I just want Brian Kelly to stick around.

Okay, so when are keyboard shortcuts going to be enabled
on the mobile version of RR? Because then I’ll totally comment from my Droid. As it is, it’s kind of a pain to follow threads on it.
Let me write out a formal proof for you.
I put in a request for marking new comments as new somehow on the mobile version
but I have a feeling it is not a high priority.
I agree that it is a pain to follow a long thread on a phone, especially when there are only 2 or 3 new comments.
Definitely a good argument.
Yeah...
I assume that auto-refreshing is disabled, which on the regular version of the site came along at the same time as marking comments, right?
Also you couldn’t really use the shortcuts on a phone without a permanent keyboard (e.g. iphone), so maybe this is of limited interest.
The droid, incidentally, is fantastic, with a couple of minor exceptions. So far, most importantly: battery life has utterly sucked for me. I’m not sure what I’ve been doing to drain it so well, but the battery hasn’t been lasting more than five or six hours with what I think to be moderate use. Also, there are some odd design quirks:
*The on/off/resume button is stupid. Utterly stupid. This tiny little button near the headphone jack. Not a big deal, but mind-bogglingly poorly placed.
*The keyboard has two blank buttons. I wish that at least one of these could be used for an apostrophe, because unlike many here, I like using correct contractions—and alt-m is a pain.
Let me write out a formal proof for you.
A-Gon
According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Red Sox are not picking up A-Gon’s option.
The Red Sox have declined to pick up Alex Gonzalez’s $6MM option, writes Tony Massarotti of the Boston Globe. However, the club may still have interest in bringing back the 32-year-old on a lesser salary.
Gonzalez posted .284/.316/.453 in 44 games with the BoSox in 2009. Including his play in Cincinnati, Gonzalez turned in a UZR/150 of 10.5. Fangraphs estimates that his total body of work in ’09 is worth $2.4MM on the open market.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Hard to believe
Football season is half-over already. The Bengals lead their division. Indianapolis and New Orleans are still undefeated. Giants fans dreams have been crushed by a four-game losing streak. ’Boys and Birds battle for first place in the NL East tonight.
