It's the Mark Shapiro special tonight. I bet he's really excited to see this matchup in Game 1 of the World Series while he sits at home.
I predict the Phillies win it in 6 games. I'm probably wrong though. Doesn't matter much since I'm not even sure how much of it I'll watch. That's just the way it goes.

Where I saw a pro basketball team once, while sprinting from gate to gate.
A mere swallow’s flight away (about 30 minutes, I think) is Irving, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Dunno what the deal is with the new stadium, but at the old one, the cheerleaders gave tours during the off-season. It was apparently customary for women on these tours to carve their phone numbers into the lockers of the players they admired. A friend of mine went on the stadium tour while she was in the area, visiting the college across the street. (TCU, I think.) She said Troy Aikman’s locker was so covered in phone numbers there was nowhere left to write.

I think he'll be all right
The hype was insane, but it’s faded a lot. Joba gets lot more attention than Hughes. Not to mention CC, AJ, A-Rod, etc.
Hughes strikes me as much more mature and grounded than Joba (or Homer Bailey, for that matter). So far as I know, he’s never gotten in trouble for DWI, etc. He does whatever he’s asked to do, and doesn’t whine about it like Joba does. And I don’t think expectations are a burden for him any more.

could be the pressure
A lot of far more experienced players than Hughes have struggled in the post-season. Aaron Boone, for example. His usually solid defense fell apart in the post-season.
He’s also facing very good hitters.
He was kind of struggling toward the end of the regular season, too, so it could be just a fluke.

Hey the FMM and I visisted there last summer and it was really very quaint.

Cliff Lee was awesome tonight. Hat tip to him. Guy’s pitching like that, there’s not much you can do.
But oy, was the Yanks’ pen exposed tonight. And it’s been a worry for a long time. For awhile Hughes was the only trustworthy reliever not named Mo. Then he started to falter, and Robertson was the one the fans trust. He hasn’t been that great lately, either. Which leaves nobody.
And A-Rod was 0 for 4 with three Ks.
Next up is crazy AJ. Which probably means Molina in the lineup, because AJ and Posada don’t get along.
