this situation has absolutely nothing to do with Calipari
it has everything to do with Brian Clifton, Billy Gillispie, and Coach K.

So it's his fault that Wall took official visits
to Kentucky when Gillispie was coach and to Duke where Coach K was the coach?
In fact, John Wall never took an official visit to a school where John Calipari was the coach.

Just making fun of his name, as Yankee fans are wont to do. :-)
Both Marte and Coke are not seen as terribly reliable.
I think if it were up to the average Yankee fan, they’d prefer to see Phil Hughes and Mariano Rivera finish out this game. No Marte, no Coke, no Joba.

yeah, he's a pro
he had the audacity to play for an AAU coach who went and got his agent’s license for a year and then scrapping it before he ever represented anybody. so now, john wall has to pay back $80 worth of McDonalds meals that his coach bought him in high school during recruiting trips while he was trying to convince Wall to go to Duke. And then Wall faces a maximum penalty of a three-game suspension. All this, meanwhile, everyone has known forever and the only news is that Mike Slive said the SEC still hasn’t figured it all out.

You're underselling it
It will end up being a bigger story than it should be, unfairly so. More importantly it will have people watching with an even closer eye at everything the staff does. None of the major programs are clean, and it’s just a matter of time until they get nailed. It’s a really bad start to the Calipari era, like it or not.
"What the hell are spanks????"

Yep
they are commenting on the situation without understanding what it’s all about. They just see the words “John Wall Eligibility Issues”, and automatically decide Calipari has gotten UK the death penalty.
But where is the story on Duke Freshman Ryan Kelly? He’s got the same issues, but because he’s a Duke player everyone chooses to ignore it?
In the end, he may not get to play 2 or 3 games against nobody schools. Oh Well…

Is that related at all to him getting jerked around by Yankees mgmt?
going from bullpen to starter to bullpen has to be tough. He’s displayed the talent to be a big league pitcher, but they won’t give him one role long enough to develop into that pitcher.
"If it wasn't this, it'd be something else."
by ZJiff30 on Oct 22, 2009 11:07 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
No, I think he's a head case
It’s completely unrelated to him being “jerked around.”
It used to be pretty common for pitchers to start in the pen, and move from the pen to starter and back again while learning the ropes. I don’t think it’s hurt him.
If anything, the Yankees have spoiled him. They announce plans for him, Joba whines about it, and they accommodate him.
He strikes me as very immature. A big reason he struggled is that he became very predictable in his pitch selection. Posada would try to fix it, and Joba would just keep shaking him off until he got what he wanted. Which was always his slider. It got to the point that every hitter knew what pitch was coming when. And he was so hard-headed he refused to change.

The Yankees are worried about that. His mom has substance abuse issues, and they’re concerned because those things tend to be hereditary.
Joba was arrested for DWI last year. He was at a strip club, and some of the other patrons teased him about the Red Sox being in the World Series while he wasn’t. He got so mad he left in a huff and sped away. So fast he was stopped for speeding. And failed a Breathalyzer.

Personally, I’d have arrested him just for wearing that shirt.

Lackey's STILL pissed Scioscia took him out.
Trying to be gracious, but he wanted that one.

This story is on CNN this morning
Red Sox “game used underwear” for sale.
Apparently, they do this every year. Memorabilia dealers pick through the trash after the season, and sell their pickings on eBay. Last year, Josh Beckett pitched a fit and had his agent stop the sale of his underwear. He apparently saw the story on ESPN and flipped out. (Afraid fans would find out he wears an extra-small jock strap or what?)

lol! That is a disturbing story
it reminds me of those alleged female undergarment vending machines in Japan.
I’d be more comfortable with the Red Sox gear being sold than schoolgirls though!
The worst part (practically speaking) about the Red Sox thing is there is no way to tell what you’re buying. That could be Youkilis’ boxer shorts, ot it could be some random trucker’s.
