First!

Don’t think I’ll be watching though. Tigers play tonight. Need this win badly.

no college student should ever watch a televised baseball game on a Saturday night

UNLESS its your favorite ballclub, in the playoffs, at a house party or a bar.

i dont see much interest in this offseason

four big market teams left, three of whom have won WS fairly recently.

the networks have to be hoping for a NYY LA WS, but its not terribly captivating.

in the end

I think it’s the games that matter. If it’s a good game, people will watch. The ratings for that Tigers-Twins game were insane. Not because anyone cared that much about the Tigers or the Twins, but because it was a terrific game.

I think you're right

how high were they? I was watching Conan later that night, and one of the musicians was interrupting to watch some of the game lol

ratings

6.54 million viewers, which is a 57 percent increase from last year’s Twins-White Sox tiebreaker.

Never count the Angels out

At least when they’re playing the Yanks.

And never trust AJ Burnett.

Does anyone remember

Johnny Bench lining a single to right when they were trying to intentionally walk him?

Of course, this could be another of my dad’s “stories”.

clutch GIDP by Jeter

Though it looked like the ump blew the call. He was safe.

I've always had a soft spot for the short scrappy guys

But the difference between the typical short scrappy guy that gets man-love in the postseason and Chone is that Chone awesome. -j

He's not scrappy

cuz he’s not white.

Definitely a good argument.

I got kinda wrapped up in the Adenhart thing

so I guess I’m with the Angels.

Speaking of short, scrappy guys

Brett Gardner’s in the game. Pinch-running for Swisher.

I’m kind of surprised Girardi did it so early. Torre would never do this. He’d wait until the Yanks had a lead to hold.

Remember when the big question in the prospect rankings was Bailey vs. Hughes?

Who would you take now? I’m honestly not sure. Both seem to be finding themselves. I’ve secretly always favored Hughes because I liked his polish, but I can’t help but feel optimistic about Bailey right now given his finish to ’09. Will Hughes make it back into the rotation next year, or are they too in love with him as a set-up man now?

by JinAZ on Oct 17, 2009 10:53 PM EDT reply actions

Girardi's over managing this game

Joba in for one out, Hughes in for two. I wouldn’t go to Mo so quickly. Hughes was doing fine.

If this game goes to extras and/or is rain delayed, he may regret burning Hughes and Chamberlain for three outs between them.

Yeah, they put Guzman in

The only reason Guzman is on the roster is to pinch-run. They DFA’d Anthony Claggett to add Guzman to the 40-man, then put him on the post-season roster instead of Hinske.

are tightening up, because they want to end this game before Noah finishes building his ark.

I agree, you should

But it’s kinda shitty to change everything up in extra innings. Doesn’t look good on the ump for sure.

Also, hi kids. What have I missed? :)

That's something the Yanks do

practically every win.

I think Cherry deserved it. Melky didn’t really deserve it; Cherry scored on the bad throw, not the hit.

yeah it would also be nice to seem him tear his fucking acl

nothing personal i just have disdain for the yankees. I really hope CC and Burnett tears their labrums and rotar cuffs next season. Teach the Yankees to give out ridiculous contracts.

i mean sometimes Walt is like a prison shower, you know it is gonna happen, but it isn’t a good thing.

Get a grip

Why does Cherry Hudson, Jr. deserve a torn ACL? He had no choice about going to the Yankees. And he’s certainly not getting a ridiculous contract (unless the Reds gave him one).

And no, it wouldn’t teach the Yankees not to give out ridiculous contracts. They have insurance on their pricey players. I’m sure all teams do.
