RR Get Together

It's that time again, I've talked to a person or two and decided to try to have a "meet your fellow RR" get together.

I still need to meet BK and Madville and any others I have yet to grace with my adorable presence. We usually have a good time and believe it or not there doesn't seem to be one "creepy guy from the internet" among us.

Star-divide

So here's the deal:

Next Saturday (1/17/09) seems like it would be the best bet, but I guess Friday night might work. Who's in? Who's out? Where should we go?

P.S. "Not it" on fishing 'tHan out of the bathroom three hours into the night.

Saturday night is the night

Don’t worry I won’t be in the bathroom, because I’m not drinking that damn bourbon barrel ale…

thoughts from the dark side
  • I’m all for a Northern Kentucky locale. I know its a little inconvenient for some of the folks, but lets be honest. Its too cold to steal smokes outside and we all know tHan and snohio will be sneaking puffers before the end of the evening. Plus, anyone who is gonna overindulge and need a place to crash, historically, is going to be looking in my direction.

*either friday or saturday works for me, no preference.

*jch and I are both kidless the same weekend? Holy Moses! Someone’s getting impregnated that evening, with jch the early 12-1 favorite to conceive.

*The neighborhood where I work has a plethora of establishments that serve canned beer for $1.25. Im just putting that information out there. Y’all do what you want with it. (not sure if they have diet soda on the spray gun, or if they carry Captain’s fyi)

Either Nite is good 4 me.

Where ? I work until 7 both nights but will show up ASAP. However there are a few prerequisites:

1. Ash must be there as she has the best stories.
2. obc is required to attend because he always has a lot of money
3. And that we agree to stay late enough for boobs to make the trek.

I will be the ‘old hep cat’ sitting in the corner discussing Zen and the ‘ground of being’ with the salt shaker.

Speaking of being old I will be having a birthday soon and am going to announce plans for a birthday bash which will include ALL RED REPORTERS to participate. More on this in the next day or so.

That’s correct I’ll be 60 on jan. 2oth.

I have my B-day list just about filled out and plan to post it in the next couple of days. I mean it when I say I expect every fucking one of you RR people to give me a present. I have all of your email addressess and now your home addresses and phone numbers, plus the names of your family memembers, husbands, wivesw, children, partners and dental technitions. If I don’t get a present from each and every one of you…
I will take action. Do we understand each other?

We’ve been tossing around the idea of going to MI that weekend (yeah, I know there is SNOW up there, that is kind of the point..) but if we don’t go, count me in. I’d prefer it as close to the river as possible, that way the escape up 71 is easier.

if Harang starts opening day

that will be four consecutive opening day assignments for him the last Cincinnati pitcher to do that was Rijo 1992-1995 (it is kinda surprising that Browing started opening day in 1991 and Rijo started game 2 after Rijo was the World Series MVP and all). Soto threw 5 straight opening days from 1982-1986.

Options on where to go

Anyone have a place they’d like to nominate?

Tickets is a pretty decent sports bar, but its hard to find on 6th st. On street parking, bring your quarters.

Willies has a great location, has a pool table, multiple bars and video games for jch’s spawn. Free parking.

Shimmer’s is at the top of Cut-in-the-Hill, and its been the location for multiple Ash/Sukr/tHan/obc drinkfests. Its very affordable and it wont be crowded. Free parking.

Mainstrasse bars. Probably too tiny since its too cold to be on the patio.

Newport on the Levee. Pay to park. People watching is a bonus. Not very many televisions at most establishments.

If we're going to Hofbrauhaus, we gotta get there early

Especially on the weekend, and especially in the winter. If you get there after 9 or so, there’s a line to get in, and since it’s cold, they close off part of the outside. And you have to pay for parking.

Bold prediction – This will be the best conversation of the night.

Better than "This one time, we went to Detroit.."

I dunno if anything can top that one.

I was sort of kidding around

my in-laws are more like caricatures than real people.

And...

they’re nowhere near as fucked up as my family.

I have 2-

but I don’t know them very well. But what I do know, I do not like. So, have at ’em, they could use a jch spawn to teach them a bit about the nature of things.

I could play this game all day

I’m torn between what is the most normal thing i can about my dumbass ex’s. These are my top two NORMAL statements about them.

*my ex’s have an Obama yard sign DUCT tape’d to a stump in their front yard, currently. they live in a very affluent part of town.

*they are recently trying to determine how to finance and open a medical clinic out of their basement. their son graduated medical school in the Philippines a couple years ago, but has not been able to pass his boards stateside. this does not concern them. neither does the fact that their son, his wife, their child, my ex, her boyfriend and my kids (50% of the time) reside in the household.

you know though, i've been describing this the wrong way...

It’s just bad for me because i have to deal with it from a distance. The person i really feel sorry for is Chan. She’s had to put up with a lot of crap she shouldn’t have, and after 8 years of marriage i still don’t understand why she feels the ties to them that she does

I don't have nearlt enough time and space to get into the debacle that is my dysfunctional family.

Suffice to say that one end of my sister’s trailer fell of the blocks where she lives in Alabama. I offered to go down and help her fix it but she says she can’t move it or the whole trailer will roll down the mountain. Besides she’s getting geared up to go on the Nascar circuit before too long. 1st she has to get one of her son-in-laws out of jail in Massachusetts.

One week in the life of just one of my close relatives.

But hey, Today’s Jan. 9th – My Mother’s 98th birthday!!!! Happy B-Day Mom!

Mads, he is a crazy old man. Plus we have kinda had the same sabrametric evolution togeather.

If anyone could

impregnate a 98 year women, it would be JCH..

After he did that

He’d convince Lloyd from the nursing home to raise the child as his own. Then, after Lloyd had raised the child to be his pride and joy, JCH would direct him to kill the child to prove his, um, faith or something.

But at the last minute, JCH would him them both with a Dodge Ram.

Hey brendan...FYI

Lloyd died at the ripe old age of 105 last fall. His last words were"What the fuck’s wrong with Dusty"…

I haven't read it all.....

The thread reeked of indecision as soon as I opened it, so I don’t need to. ;) Lemme guess, nobody’s decided where and when yet, eh?

I present for your consideration, drum roll please……. The sukr Plan:
1) The evening begins with a hand-rolled Cuban and a snifter of fine Cognac. Strike that. I’ll chug a couple beers and hot-box a Winston, since my gf won’t let me drink or smoke in her car.

2) We all meet on the Ohio side around 6p at either the Eastgate Mall, Kenwood Towne Center, or the Northgate Mall. I need to go hat shopping and one of these is bound to have a Hat World and a smoke-free drinking establishment for the Northerners that don’t want to stay out too late

3) We party it up, or down, or whatever direction you kids party it these days…

4) The later portion of the evening will be spent across the border. Cars can be parked and we can cram into the others to go wherever we decide at the time. (let’s face it, we’ll change our minds no matter what we decide on now, so why bother)

He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
We'll miss him.
