Community Prospect Rankings: #9
Kyle Lotzkar squeaks by at #8. Venezuelan wunderkind Yorman Rodriguez takes his place on the list. Despite not having any numbers to go by, he's one of the most lucrative international signings in Reds history and has drawn comparisons to Eric Davis.
With high upside guys like Mesoraco, Rodriguez, and Duran on the board along with guys that are close to the majors like Dickerson, Roenicke, and Maloney, it'll be interesting what kind of direction this goes in. Vote now!

I voted Mesoraco
It just makes me too sad to think about him being a first round pick to not have him as a top 9 prospect
Think of me what you will...I gotta little space to fill

It says a lot about how great our system is
That even our number 9 prospect is still a pretty good one, no matter who gets picked

a lot of these guys are so close in my mind
mesoraco should go next though, I think. Zach Stewart’s not a bad choice…

Dorn
he’s becoming my favorite under-the-radar prospect. from Billings thru Chattanooga over the last 3 years:
~1000 ABs
.297/.387/.528 K-rate 22% BB-rate 13%
he’s OPSed over .900 at every level. he could be the next Adam Dunn, and he’s gonna start the year in Louisville. if he were right-handed, i bet Walt would have a big ol’ rubbery one for him right now.

i refuse to believe the dorn hype
not because i dont think he’ll be good, but because it helps to keep expectations down for a 32nd-rounder, keep him hungry and sech.

I think he got hurt his senior year
I can’t find a link right now, but it was something like that.

I don't think I'd call Dickerson a prospect
I think he’s proven himself to an extent.

I didnt know about the top 8
But I’ve been adamant in my support for Dorn as the #9 overall prospect all along. Its a no brainer.

This is right where he belongs, no higher….no lower. Ive never been more certain of anything in my life. (Other than the fact UK was gonna cover the spread this weekend over UL)

I went with Stewart
I think he’s going to move through the system quickly this year, but I’m also an idiot. This is evidenced by my going high risk/high reward in the bereavement pool with picks like Mary Kate Olsen.
I only avoided a shutout because I saw the Golden Girls while flipping through the channels during the creation of my list.

you know
when i saw commercials about tampons i thought periods were girls asses. In 5th grade I learned in sex ed that they weren’t. I learned something that day.
Danny Dorn is totally number 9. He is a sleeper prospect. Look at his OPS and what not, the guy just mashes. I want him in the outfield at some point next year, I want to see Bruce, Stubbs, Dorn, and Dickerson patrolling the greens of Cincinnati.

that is the problem with living alone
in years past i would have shared that with my room mate (except when I lived with the autistic kid), and it would be put out there. Now when these thoughts come to me when I’m in my apartment I either have to call somebody (wasting daytime minutes) or put them on the internet.

he was on both Sickels and Doug's lists
so I included him. Honestly, I was surprised that he was on Sickels’ list. I figured he was too old to be considered a prospect anymore.

I think people have been interested in Dickerson since long before Taveras was signed
I think the problem is that people are confusing “playing with the team in 2009” with being a better prospect. This isn’t about the most ready player it’s about who will be the best player.

True.
If “playing with the team in 2008” were the criterion for determining prospect status, then Paul Bako would be high on the list.
BTW, I think Danny Dorn’s age is wrong. It isn’t 20, I think, since he was signed out of college.

Actually, your definition of "best prospect" might be innocuously stated
This isn’t about the most ready player it’s about who will be the best player.
If this survey was set up with that nomenclature provided, perhaps the results would be more in line with your perspective.
