What a morning, there is nothing like a 5am wakeup call to shovel the driveway! I dropped the kids off crosstown then scurried over to the office. Total travel time? Almost 2 hours, ugh! it usually takes 30 mins. Anywho, I was still an hour early and I had some time to reflect on the pending White Death Part Deux as I was spreading two bags of Ice Melt on my parking lot.
What are your best memories of snowdays from your youth?
I remember the blizzard of '78 and how everyone in the neighborhood had giant piles of snow at the end of their driveways. A group of us decided to hide behind these piles and throw snowballs at passing cars. There was a stop sign right past our front yard and folks were either slowing down or accelerating pretty cautiously when they past my driveway.
THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!
Well.....its a pretty damn easy for the automobiles since they were going slow. One of the first cars we snowbombed stopped suddently and the driver popped out of the car. Everyone RUN!!! I ran directly up my driveway, into the garage connected to the house and went inside shutting the door behind me. Naturally the dude went to the front door and rang the doorbell. After my ass cooled down from the spanking I received i suggested to the group that we move our base of operations to the woods directly across the street so the motorists would not be able to identify us. The escape plan was to run back into the woods like Banshees, AWAY from our residences, when anyone stopped their vehiculars.
One of the favorite memories of my youth. I've since learned more deceptive retreat tactics : )
